hello all, it was a 60 degree day, not a cloud in the sky[i cant believe it either] so i called up my hunt buddy frank to see if he wanted to detect near the hanover courthouse/ashland battlefield in va...of course, he says, so out we went to hunt! we had a really good day, couldnt walk ten feet without a good beep. shown are my finds for the day, frank found an equal amount! i think were on top of a confederate camp, weve found many signs indicating that its so. only one flatbutton so far, a floral type. lots of sharps too. and starting to find a lot of lead melt and black ground. i hunted with my cibola, and frank with his trusty old 2b. its kinda crazy, ive been hunting this same 6 acre field for 2 months now, and the beeps just wont stop! good soft digging, mowed field, man, i think ive passed on and went to the hunters paradise in the sky! quick, wake me up! hahaha, i found the following, but dont know what everything is, so help me out if you can, a chewed bullet, an iron buckle, a brass buckle - the tongue, a half in. brass buckle, a piece of rolled flat lead, 4 rivets, a flattened and rolled bullet, an iron triangle,a nice little capbox finial,a big brass ring,a big brass disc[thought it was a breastplate at first] an iron nail shaped like a hook, several pieces of lead melt, piece of percussion cap,2 oddball pieces on the bottom, pieces of harmonica reed,a fine batwing looking brass clasp[broken],an almost rectangular piece with a deers head on it and rivet on the back,a fork or spoon piece that says "patent, gk" a .44 cal. colt dragoon bullet,a flattened bullet,2 .52 cal bullets - 1 is a 2 ringer sharps, the other a solid 3 ringer,a .58 cal. 3 ringer. what a day it has been! you can bet frank and me will soon be back up there, only got 65 more acres to go! if you can help out with iding some of this stuff, thanks. happy hunting everyone!!! yeeehaaawwww!!!
