I know the Infinium is a little noisier in saltwater, but the hi/lo and lo/hi tones are still very distintive. I love the depth the Infinium gets with the 10X14 Mono at the beach.
 
Mine runs very quiet in heavy black sand beaches. It takes time to learn the fine tuning which will have it running better.
There was some great saltwater/ beach ground balancing tricks on the old P2P forum.:thumbup:
