A Rainy Day in Bermuda - Decided to take a spin at Glass Beach Anyway:cool:

It was a cold and rainy day in Bermuda today but this pirate had to get out and hunt regardless. I decided to try a spin to Glass Beach which I've never hunted before and see what the surf god had to offer up. I found the oddest ring made of pewter, shaped like a human hand and it looks as though it was gold plated at one time. I also found a Bermudian 50 cent piece and the usual clad.
Here's what it looked like:

I parked the car at the picnic area down from Glass Beach

Raining and cold (glass beach is just beyond the jetty)

Tide had brought in a lot of sand and junk but still lots of glass

BH would have a field day here

Took a short cut through the old convict cemetery back to the car

Planning on heading out to surf church tomorrow, good hunting to all!

Hi Bobbie:
There was a bottling plant on this beach in the first half of last century so the beach is full of glass and crockery. You can't see it in the picture but the glass is mixed with pottery shards about 2 feet deep for the length of the beach. Beach Hunter could cherry pick glass for days on this beach.

It's been tumbling in the surf for 50 years, so yes, all smooth beach glass. There are still some big pieces but a lot of it is broken down to smaller pieces by the wave action. When the surf is rough it sounds like wind chimes as the glass rolls in the waves.
Very Kewl,
