A Quick 45 Minutes With X-50

I just got my new X Terra 50 at noon today and it was 45 degees in NE Ohio. I quickly put it together and took it over to my neighbors old farm house for a quick hunt before I left for my second shift job. I didn't read the manual and used the factory program. This is a light responsive detector. The area I hunted was full of trash and I figured one or two coins would be a success. I found 5 coins and two small brass buttons. I have read the numbers would jump around, but I didn't find that to be any worse than other vdi detectors. I did notice that the tones were consistant on the coins and button. I did not have time to play with the all metal and I think this is where I will get the best performance. All the coins were 5 to 6 inches deep and deep rusty iron only fooled me once. Some of the other detectors I have tried in this spot were fooled by this rusty junk more times than naught. I am very impressed with the 50 in the short time I used it. R.L.

Congrats on getting the X-50 and for finding coins on your first hunt with it. Since you were apparently running in one of the discrimination patterns, you won't find the numbers jumping around on good targets. Not more than one notch in either direction, anyway. When you hunt in the all metal mode, you will find that trashy items will cause the VID to jump around, which is just another method that the X-50 helps you decide whether you want to dig it or not! When you get a little time, go back to your neighbors farm house, take a few minutes to properly set the GB and raise the sensitivity to optimum for the site. I won't be surprised if you find even more the next time you hunt it. HH Randy
