A question.......

The Vaquero is a 14kHz machine with GB. So is the MXT. The MXT
is an all around machine, operates at 14.75 kHz and has had good reviews as a gold nugget
machine. I'm wondering if the Vaquero would stand toe to toe with the MXT (and other top of the line Whites Detectors) as a gold nugget
machine useing the Vaquero 5.75DD coil?
Does anyone have any experience with the Vaquero hunting nuggets?

I've heard it does okay with nuggets. As to toe to toe, can't really tell you. There may be a noticeable difference in total gain or other aspects besides the similar frequency.

- - The MXT was an off shoot of an original gold detector design. It is essentially a GMT that has software changes, a few tweaks and ta-da - you get a three-way detector. But it's true nature is that of a gold detector

The Vaquero is a beep and dig, all-round detector. Nothing wrong with that and it does most jobs well, even if it is, by default, a compromise. That is the nature of "one size fits all" approaches.

Will it be the equal of the MXT, when the latter is properly employed?
I'd be inclined to say probably not.
Head to head, I would put more faith in the MXT and the right coils. Ive tested the Vaquero on small lead targets, and it didn't do so hot.

From what little on know, there is more to nugget hunting than just finding 'nuggies' lying around on the ground. It is really a very specialized type of hunting, under sometimes extreme conditions. I suspect your success would hinge on having the right sort of specialized equipment.

Since you have both, maybe you should do the do and conduct the tests. Then you can tell US if it works as well. I'd sure be interested to know.
