A question

The Vaquero is a 14kHz machine with GB. So is the MXT. The MXT
is an all around machine, operates at 14.75 kHz and has had good reviews as a gold nugget
machine. I'm wondering if the Vaquero would stand toe to toe with the MXT as a gold nugget
machine useing the Vaquero 5.75DD coil?
Does anyone have any experience with the Vaquero hunting nuggets?

I've tried a few .22 bullets and cut pieces of bullet with it. As most will know, lead is about as close as you can get to free gold (nuggets), without actually having gold nuggets to test.
It does hit them alright, down to match head size, or a tad bigger. Im talking wooden matches here, by the way.

As for the Vaquero itself, it isn't really a prospecting detector, as you mentioned. But it will do in a pinch, and it does have a manual GB. There is always someone to do these tests on the Tesoro's, and inevitably, they hold their own pretty well.

Sadly, I think my Vaquero will be one of the units I include in the great, "2009 Sell Off." I just don't use it much anymore and I find there are others I like better. Peoples tastes change, I guess.

I have a V an have had a MXT, the MXT is a very good nugget hunter with the eliptical coils. the V is a good nugget hunter with the 5.75 or 5x10 coils, the 5.75 is my favorite. the major drawback with the V is the 3 3/4 turn ground bal.( I put a 10 turn in mine) it can be a bit "touchy" in hot ground. I found around 2 oz. of gold with it last month when my GB was down. The MXT is a little heavy for my liking. The Vaq will find a 2 grain or smaller flake. I like the V almost as much as my Gold Bug.
