Hi all; The Explorer rechargeable battery pack says to 'Use the specified charger only'. Is there any reason why I can't use any other 12 volt car adaptor? It would seem to me that as long as the plug is properly polarized and fits correctly that it would recharge the battery pack while driving to and from a site. Perhaps ML is only referring to the 120 volt wall charger! Any ideas? Your input is appreciated, thanks. I guess they have some sort of regulator chip inside in the charging ciruitsthat may get messed up.. dont try to use another charger using the charging plug.. you can use others if you charge through the connectors on the ends like the sunray charger does

Jim & Mike, thanks for the input, it helped me decide which way to go. Mike the picture clearly shows the input module that contains some kind of circuitry right at the input jack. Anything to make life difficult, but I guess it does protect the battery pack from damage if someone should get careless. Again, thanks for the responses. HH in the rest of 2K2. but it will on 110AC and does a excellent job. Now the old Super Charger Sunray made would work on 12 volts and was very handy to take with to charge while driving down the road to the next site.

Jim,
Did you lose the 12V Minelab charger for the XS? It works just fine. You might be able to find one on eBay unless you have a reason for wanting to use another charger on this battery.
Regards,
Thom
