A question to Garrett Freedom metal detector owners...

I've got a Freedom II Plus coming and I was wondering if any of you have used the newer black Garrett coils on them? I'm talking about the Proformance elliptical concentric and big Power DD 10" X 14" coils. These coils were made for the GTA/X metal detectors before the Crossfire II series. I tried asking Garrett and none of them know. Any help would be appreciated.

"I can't believe that statement: "I tried asking Garrett and none of them know?"

I've asked Garrett' several questions of late and all were answered completely with more than enough information.

I had a few "Freedom" models but can't answer your Q. but would hazard two guesses they won't be compatible by plug type and operational frequency?"

Are you the same Des that is on the cover of the Minelab Quattro book by Andy Sabisch? If not, sorry for the assumption.

The coils I mentioned are 5 pin female in an 'x' pattern. The freedom cdc/plus series operate at 6 khz. I will be getting a freedom 2 plus early next week and I'll try the coils on it then. I'll post the results when I find out.

Well,I tried the F2 Plus with the newer Rhino coils. The coils reacted with a harsh double blip when coins were swung near them. Performance wasn't markedly better and decided to part with the coils.

Own a Freedom 2, A couple of Freedom 3 and a few Freedom 3 Plus and have never tried another coil. Have a brand new sniper coil that I have never used also.

Always in the market for another Freedom series!

Great machine .

Leslie,I'll give you a tip. The Depthmaster champion system audio amplifier works great with the Freedom series. Limits the blare and makes deeper coins audibly aware.

Wowsers! I'm a subscriber to your YouTube channel. I enjoy seeing your videos! Thanks for sharing them.

"Straker, just saw your posting now!
Thank you very much for that. I appreciate it.

Yes, am planning more videos in the coming weeks ( as weather warms up) incl. Rutus, Deus, and the Ace400i"
