A question regarding all-metal mode on the GTI 2500.

I'm thinking about selling my GTI 1500 & getting a GTI 2500, mainly because(for my type of hunting) a true all-metal mode would really come in handy. I have one concern though; how does the AM mode on the GTI handle high/changing mineralization? As far as I know, it doesn't have a SAT control, and my ground is heavily mineralized & changeable. Does speeding up the autotracking help? I looked through the online manual & didn't find anything re. autotrack speed adjustment, though I've read that it has 4 speeds. From what I've seen on the forums & experienced with my GTI 1500, the imaging coils don't like highly mineralized ground (still works however & goes reasonably deep), so I'd buy the DD coils. Maybe I should trade my 12.5" non-imaging coil for one of the DD's.. anyone interested? Whatever the case, I'd really like to get the lowdown on the GTI 2500 AM mode. I've done some air tests with the GTI 1500 in pinpoint & found it to be as sensitive (with the 9.5" imaging coil) as many other detectors that run at higher frequencies (& have smaller coils) to my tiny 1 grain test nugget. This has me thinking. Right now I have way too many detectors & wish to pare it down to 2. This would consist of my Infinium and, possibly, a GTI 2500. My arsenal (at present) consists of: 1) GTi 1500 w. 9.5" & 12.5" (non-imaging) 2) Infinium w. all stock coils 3) Cobra II (heavily modded)w. 8" & 5" 3) Sov. XS pro (modded..looks crappy but works great)w. 8", 10" & WOT 4) Excalibur w. 10". & homemade rod. As you can see, it's way too many detectors. I'm in the process of building a long wheelbase recumbent delta trike that's going to haul myself, dog, & mining eqpmnt. around the mountains this summer & space is at a premium. Having done some tests with the above detectors has me thinking that the GTI with a comparably sized DD coil will match or (possibly) exceed the depth of the minelab units. I wonder why there haven't been many posts comparing the 2 brands with DD's? It always seems to be concentric VS. DD in nasty soil or on salt beaches. Regardless of the depth comparisons, I find the GTI 1500 to be considerably more sensitive in pinpoint AM mode than the Minelab units to small low conductors. While the ML's I have "could" be used prospecting (for larger gold), the GTI AM mode "seems" to be superior &, from what I've seen, would probably do quite well on both small/large gold. ..Willy.

I have a 2500 and have not really used the AM yet. It does have manual GB and Fast-Track GB for AM. Try looking at the field test on lost treasure. It may have something. The DD coils are the 10x14 and 5x10 Scorcher. I was thinking of trying the 5x10 on mine but the 560 Vibraprobe came first. I do have a 10x14 i use on my GTA 1000 and i really like it. My 9.5 imaging coil did not like the black sand but it seemed to do just fine in the Mountains otherwise. Still hopin to get the DD for the 2500 to try out for Gold. Sorry i was not much help.

The 2500 has automatic ground tracking ground balance and fast track balancing in all metal.
