What is the scoop on the Pirate detectors, specifically the Wader.
Has anyone used them? The only thing I see is that they are VLF machines
at just above 2kHz. They have one PI machine and it appears to have been
discontinued for a while.

I researched them awhile back. I read where they had quite a few problems with them. Decided to stick with the two tried and true units....CZ21 & Excal.

I would also like to know more about them. I hunt the dry sand on the ocean about 3 times a year. Dont wantto damage my other detectors. Just wash it off in fresh water. The man that builds them built the mine lab excaliber. So , maybe they are pritty good. I wish some one wit experiance would help here. KEN

I like reading about all of the Surf-beach-Waterproof MDs. My situation seems similar to yours- I live a decent drive from the beach and I don't go often enough -SO I'm always torn between the best and lesser quality beach MDs.
If I did it as much as land detecting it would be an easier choice. Still $ is a factor--for land I chose a x705 and I also have a 6000 xl pro. Neither is the top of the line-but they are good solid MDs.
That being said--some of the comments that make the most sense to me are the type that refer to similar situations--get a decent MD and use finds to upgrade.
IF I lived closer to the beach and that were my dedicated type of MDing I would be more inclined to start with a higher quality MD.

Long winded-- We have a Detector Pro Section right here on this website. I like the intent of the Wader- light and able to take some immersion wading. That appeals to me. I won't be diving-but I want to get wet. My 705 is great on the beach. Always wanted a BBS but I don't know if I can justify the $ unless I go more.
I've been reading positive & negatives for months on -Detector Pro and well every type of beach machine. I'll be doing a lot more research including some hands on before I make that decision.
