A Question No One Has Answered

I had questions about charging my Deus and while everybody who replied ...here and other places were trying to be helpful...I was getting answers that suggested that the clip was not connected correctly or the charging leads are faulty etc....but here is the question I would like answered in response to these suggestions.

If the charging clip is not on correctly would the coil light come on and stay on showing it was charging....and if it would then why would the coil light flash after it was on for a couple of hours indicating it was fully charged...defies logic that such scenario would happen.

I also waited an hour or so and connected the lead again to charge just the coil and it only flashed as in standby mode. I tried the regular charger and the aftermarket orange one both...and I have used both before to charge the unit.

try reinstalling the firmware should fix any issue with not showing proper battery % on LCD. No, it will not charge of the clip was the wrong direction.

Thanks but I understand that if the clip was on wrong direction...is that even possible without breaking the clip or coil cover guides...the clip was on correctly.

I can't imagine it would give any indications at all if the clip was on backwards.
I have on a couple of occasions gone detecting after the coil indicated it was fully charged and ended up getting an indicator for the coil flashing low battery after only a few minutes. As a result I started waiting on the coil to indicate it was charged and then removing the clip , turning it on , then off with the remote and reinstalling the clip and charging again. It continued to charge for a notable amount of time a couple of times when I have done this :confused:but at least I end up with a fully charged coil. That was all on 3.2,,,it doesn't make much difference in 4.? because the remote seems to lose charge faster than coil now.

There was a problem a while back when they first released V3.XX.
When loading V3.XX with a partially charged coil it wouldn't register right on the remote.
The cure was to charge all parts of the unit and re-install V3.xx to all parts.(coils, headphones, and remote)
This seemed to reset the scale and all was good.
This may not be your problem, but it's worth a try...
Also when I charge my Deus it's on the charge over night.
So I'm sure it has a full charge.
I know when the coil is blinking and the remote and headphones show full it's done, but I'm told that it's ok to leave them on the charger longer.
and that they have a built in limiter on the charging circuit.

When I first installed V4 last week or so the next morning i went to go detecting and the coil was at 1 bar. i charged it on the way and when i got there it was fine and worked for the 4 hours that i detected. the next morning it was at 1 bar again. by then the next newest V4 was out so i charged everything up and installed V4 I again. I have not had the problem since. all i can say it install V4 again and see how it goes. GL

Well I am on 3.2 have not upgraded to v4 as of yet it is not a case of how fast the coil depletes when detecting it has about not showing it is full charged.

Again the question is can the coil light indicating it is charging come on if the charging clip is not making a connection properly to the coil? And if it does why would it then at some point show full charge if it really isn't charging?

No, it should either charge correctly with a solid LED ifcthe clip is seated properly, or not charge at all if not seated properly when showing the blinking standby LED. Sometimes it takes me a couple of tries to seat the clip properly to gain a solid LED light, or the contact can be a bit greasy/dirty not enabling a decent connection.

From your explanation the clip must have been making a connection to gain a solid LED and to show full charge after a couple of hours. What made you think that the clip wasn't indeed making a good connection? If the other Deus components are charging fine, then you can obviously discount both the cable and charger.

Generally I find any quirks, freezing displays, or any other issues are usually ironed out after reinstalling the software to all compoments.

"One off" issues can crop up from time to time, so if no other solution or suitable explanation is at hand, might pay to contact XP directly to see if they have come across such an issue before, just as I did when my remote froze/wouldn't charge correctly.

Hi, a month ago I find myself with an EMPTY coil after a "correct" charging procedure....I attached the charging clip, the light was solid state...after a couple of hours (My daughter was keeping an eye every 15 minutes or so) the charging process end but when I went to the filed the charge lasted only 1 hour....I was afraid (no coil on my unit display) so I went to the car and plug another charging clip, after 30 minutes the coil was charged enought to start a new search....I've bought another charging clip...Take care of the charging pins/points, keep 'em as clean as possible, use a 1000mA charger (don't use a higher one..2A) slow charging is the way to keep your battery fresh.
