Just curious how many of you guys tried the Ace 250 on gold nuggets?

Garrett Sent me a newsletter a few months back;it had a short artical about a gril in Alaska who found a nice gold
nuggett with her Ace.

Anyone here in the Staes or down under ever try this?

Regards

Take it from somebody in Georgia. You're perfectly allowed to use the short form of the contraction, which is y'all.

If you don't believe me, email Jeff Foxworthy.

If you're a Yankee, though, you may be forgiven for not quite gettin' it right. ;)

Nope, never tried nugget shooting, or the Ace 250, either, for that matter, though I had a buddy using a "Yeller Feller" right next to me once, and I gotta say I was impressed with what a $220 detector can do nowadays. We've come a long way, baby.

Those Yeller Fellers seem to pack a lot of bang for the buck, I and I wouldn't be surprised if they could shoot nuggets, with the proper sensitivity settings.

I might end up with one of those as my backup/loaner machine one day. I'm currently down to one detector at the moment (the 2500).

Good luck!

I noticed that in the Garrett catalog that I downloaded, there is a picture of someone who has a nice little
gold nugget found with the ACe. Looks good sized too!

I was originally born in Augusta GA but moved from there when I was 3 yrs old. My Step Father adopted me and moved to California.
I did vist a couple of times when I was very young. I remember the GA red clay and the thunder storms. My grandparents lived in the "sticks" in an old wooded house with an out house in back.

Now that area is a moderen day residentila development, or so I understand.

The ace is a amazing Mach. What is the different between a gold ring and a gold nugget ? This is a great hobby. Later Graw :yo:

Except for the alloys in the gold rings, nothing. BUT rings are usually much bigger than a gold nugget.
I have to wonder if the Ace could pick up any smaller nuggets?

Robert R[/quote]I bought these very small nuggets last year with some of my detecting money. They are smaller than a match head. Air testing with the Ace 250 wouldn't pick them up unless I had the sens up all the way. I'm sure a larger, maybe pea sized nugget would show up. Small flakes I don't think so.

With the coil running at 6.5kHz, the nugget would need to be at least a gram before you could hear it. At least the detector is the right colour though!

The difference is the type of ground they are found in. Nuggets are mostly found in highly mineralized ground often with black sand.
