A QUESTION FOR BILL IN (OR)

Bill is there anyway to tone down the 2500 so it doesnt get the overload machine gun sound? I know that it is usually a big peace of metal close to the surface, But there is a old ghost town I would like to go back to but it seemed like I couldnt go two feet without getting the coil overload. And like a Dumb A## I didnt dig any of the overload signals (which is another reason I want to go back) Who knows what some of them could have been.... Now the thing about this Ghost Town is it has prolly been picked pretty good as it is listed in the ghost towns book available at the library. And at one time had a sign where every building used to be in the town giving a description of the business. The signs have been gone for some time now as people that camp close by seemed to need them for firewood....Ya just gotta hate people like that!! But the good thing is you can see all the depressions in the ground where the buildings were Anyways enough rambling here...got any ideas??
Thanks and HH

Yeah you might have passed over some artifacts. Anything from that time period is collectable. How high are you running your sensitivity? If it's high jack it down to about 6 or 6.5 and run your coil about two inches off the ground. I would dig some of those overloads and see what they are. You might be surprised. Let us know how you do.
You also might try detuning over those overloads and see if you can narrow the signal down to a respectable level. There's probably a lot of rusted stuff buried and you're picking up not only the target but its rust halo. You'd be surprised at what a rusty horseshoe can sound like. But in a ghost town I'd dig evrything that makes a noise.

I usually run the sensitivity around 7....and by detuning do you mean raise the coil to narrow the cone?
Thanks again

To detune - as you are pinpointing you release and press pinpoint one or more times as you are hovering over the target. This narrows the signal down, often to the exact size of the target.
