A question about fresh water beaches.

I'm sorry if this topic has been covered previously. On lunch break so not much time to search. Tomorrow before work i was thinking about hunting the grass edge before the sand starts at a local area beach. It's a mix of sand and regular dirt. Would an open combined FC work ok here since its not a salt water setting?

It will work just fine. I use the same program right on down to the waterline.

Larry,

What program do you use once your in the freshwater?

This is the one that serves me well. For beach hunting you might want to open up the foil block.

Larry,
What are your bin sizes. I have been thinking about making a nickel bin, but haven't done it, because it makes the other two larger than I like. Do you find that discing out 1/49-50 helps with falsing?

My nickel bin is 10 to 15 and the tone is 975. I might up the tone a little but I don't want it as high as the silver/IH bin which is 33 to 50 @1200. Rejecting 49-50 seems to work OK for me but I hunt in Ferrous-Coin only. If you hunt in other modes, you might want to think twice about rejecting those.

In the water I use the stock Beach program. If I did more water hunting, I might play with the program more but for just a few water hunts a year the Beach program suits me fine.

i definately agree with that..I found an 1858 seated half a few weeks ago, and it hit 12/48 in ferrous coin and 1/49-50 in high trash.
