a problem

Hi, all. I hope this isn't really a problem, but... I bought a used Silver Sabre Umax from a dealer today. It worked fine at the dealership, and I got it home, and was going to go outside to try it out after dinner. When I turn it on, I get a constant squeal like the battery test, but it never stops. I've replaced the battery, and really don't know what else to do. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Kristopher

Well I would have suggested changing the battery but since you've already done that I'd just take it back to the dealer to see if he can solve the problem and if not make him send it to Tesoro to have it repaired. It will come back good as new or better.

If it has a threshold adjustment and an all metal switch, check to see if it is in all metal and the treshold turned up too much. It has been awhile since I have use a Silver Saber and it was an older Silver Saber II. Ron.

Yes, I tried it outside, inside, tried changing the knobs to every setting I can think of. It's very puzzling.

If the threshold is not too high, it sounds like the connetctor

for the coil is not making good contact.

Try undoing and inspecting the connector for the coil cable. Look for dirt.

Blow it out.

If you can find nothing wrong, carefully re-attach the connector and try again.

If it doesn't stop. Try giggleing the connector while it is on and see if something happens.

It may have a bad connection or a bad coil.

Good luck,

It would appear that I might be out of luck. I've tried everything I can think of, to no avail. I guess I'll give the dealer a call tomorrow and see if he'll make good on this machine. :( Thanks for all the good suggestions.

My Vaq did something similar, not sure why but when I took the coil cover off it stopped, reinstalled it and it's been fine since

I contacted the gentlemen I bought it from today. He told me to come down to his shop (he came over on a Sunday for me!) He took the machine back, apologized profusely for my wasted time, gave me a bunch of free magazines, and told me he was going to ship a brand new Silver Umax to my house and that it will be in my hands on Tuesday. Now that's what I call customer service! I'll definately buy from him again, and refer anyone I meet from my area to him.

Too bad you had to lose the Silver Sabre uMax. Id prefer it over the Silver and would have sent it to Tesoro for repair.
But hey you got a good dude there, so work with him.
