A power usage question

I was just sitting here drinking coffee this morning and a question came to mind. It may be a dumb question but I'm going to ask it anyway because that's the way I roll. Especially in regards to older metal detectors "Does the size of the coil on the machine have any effect on the power consumption of the machine" ie does a large coil take and drain more power from the units batteries than a small coil?

In my experience using the 10x14, I haven't noticed any difference at all. I'm using the ace 350.

At first thought a person might draw that conclusion, and unless you measured it I suspect little difference. In fact it could draw slightly less current if the larger coil had a higher impedance.

Thank you guys, I was just wondering if bigger coil more power or what so I thought I would ask. Still learning and will be till the day I become worm food. Thanks again.

Not really. The biggest power user on a detector is the speaker. That's why using headphones will double battery life.
