A pleasant walk with the CZ20

Had not been to the local beach in a while. A few days ago the water was about 1.5 feet higher than a normal high tide. Today it was about a foot lower than a normal low tide. Prevailing winds push water in or pull it out. About once a year I get a chance at low water levels. Some kayaker's went by and ask if I was digging clams (they saw the scoop come up but did not notice the detector). I actually did pull up two clams today while digging targets. The clams went back in the water. Found more targets today than in the past 3 or so hunts on this beach put together. Today it was:
$2.49 in clad, a dollar coin helps!
About a pound in lead, some lures.
Miscellaneous junk.
And two rings, a silver and a brass ring.
Was a nice day to be out.

Just a regular fishing lure spoon, nothing special.

This is the beach where I got my first "nitro", about 6 years ago ... a solitaire engagement ring with a one carat stone. A local jeweler looked at it and tested it; stone was CZ and the ring itself was gold filled.

Won't be too many more pleasant hunting days left this year.

Nice TVR, Good to see your getting out...like the Brass Ring...Old?

OBN,
Hard for me to tell age of the ring. No markings, tested it for gold and it isn't, so I'm guessing brass or a similar copper alloy. One of the memorial cents with no readable date is worn to half it's thickness and came out of the water looking like a cookie the size of a nickle. I don't think the ring was in the water near as long as that memorial cent. To me it just doesn't have a feel of old.

Hope you are getting some hunting time.

No hunting..just work, homelife.....but 19 months And counting,..Then nothing but hunting 3 to 4 days a week.... I do need a pirate ship for those private beach's..

OBN,
I hear ya. Still have detail work to do on a kitchen remodel and a new floor to get down in the living room. Living room carpet was old when I moved in back in1997, so it's well past due.

This is the time of year to look for a small pirate ship. People tend to unload them for good prices after the season. I've seen some "crabbing" boats in the 16 foot range come up for sale; or possibly an inflatable would do the trick. Maybe next fall, as you get just a few months out from retirement, would be a good time to look. I've still got a few years to go to retirement, unless I hit the lottery.

Just got a lead on a ring lost a few years back off a private pier. When I get a chance, I'll take the waders and probably the CZ20 and see if I can find it for the young lady.
Cheers,
