[attachment 237189 SilverSabreUMA640x563.jpg]Thank you Monte for helping me clarify what machine I had actually purchased. I recently acquired this silver sabre umax for $80 with Tesoro headphones included and what really suprised me was that it had a coil cover on it as well. The guy said he only had put 2 1/2 hours on it. It looks really good and I am excited to get out and put some hours on it. Monte I am wondering if you can give me some info on this machine. I am wondering what coils you would recommend besides the standard coil, what kind of depth you have had with the stock coil, and what settings you have found to be the most effective? Any info you can give, I thank you in advance. Happy Hunting everyone, and try to stay cool in all this heat.

Try to find a troy s-9 coil to use on the machine...I have seen them come up on the classifieds from time to time......It will work fine on the detector, but I sent the entire package back to tesoro to have the coil specifically calibrated to the detector...

Find one and you'll have a super set-up..

Sweet looking detector!----You probably got the buy of the year.----The lower shaft for a Minelab costs almost the same as you paid for the whole unit.----Try the 8" "donut coil" on that silver---should work great.----BTW, if you decide you want to sell it, let me know!

Very nice machine for 80 dollars, congrats!

Wow! It's a beauty and is worth every bit of $200 if you can find one.

Thanks for all the info guys. This forum is the best. I am really excited to own my second Tesoro and hope to have many great pictures and stories of future finds. Now the hunt begins for the right coil. Best wishes and HH

Congrats on a Mint Silver Saber U max! You did outstanding in that find and the price! You will be very happy for sure! Beale.

 I've got one just like it too. I use the 7 inch widescan concentric coil on mine and it works great. You are going to really like this machine. Happy Hunting, RDF :detecting::tesoro:

I can't add much to what's been posted other than I like mine so well I bought another. I like either the 8" donut or the 7" concentric on mine the best.

It looks exactly like the practically new one stolen from me. I'll send you my address to return it.

Ummm, if that didn't work, let's try this ...

Eighty bucks!! Sounds almost like a steal. Send it my way and I'll use it for a while until the heat of the crime calms down.

Maybe this will work ...

I live in a highly mineralized location and could evaluate it for a few months with an assortment of coils for you.

Okay, I tried. :surrender:

I am, and always have been, more partial to any detector with a manual or automated Ground Balance instead of an internally preset design. There are maybe two or three "turn-on-and-go" models that are an exception to that rule, and the Tesoro Silver Sabre

Monte,
Thank you for all your input on my new machine. I am excited to get out and make some great finds. I will be looking for a 7" and 5 3/4" coil for the Silver Sabre. I always enjoy reading your posts and appreciate the time you took to respond to my post. I will hold onto this detector until enough evidence of a theft can be procured on this steal of a deal. Even afer enough evidence can be produced I will not be giving up this detector. Hope you find one like it in the future. It must be exciting to have the opportunity of trying so many Tesoros and other detectors over the years. I have been in the hobby for close to 2 years now and I am excited every time I get to go out and hunt for a while. Keep sharing your knowledge of the hobby with all of us newbies and even the veterans. HH
