A nice supprise today

That middle shot is a great study of a southern kitty. I was lucky enough to make four accidental intercepts with wild Bobcats in Wyoming as a youngster, which is way more than the average outdoorsman ever does. Have also called in a few. The mountain cats are a little more compactly built than this guy, and have more hair. If you ever feel the need for an adrenaline charge, call up an old bur-headed tom to about 10 yards and note the demonic killer fire in his eye as he prepares to hop into your lap after that crippled rabbit. Cougars will come to a call too, but I never got that interested in them. Great shooting. You must have a good camera. :clapping:

Thanks for the nice words... I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time. He didn't seem to mind me taking his picture.I walked up on one at a distance of aout 12 feet at the beach one day. I slowly backed up but he didn't seem to think I was a threat.. needless to say the hair stood up on my neck... beautiful animals

Yeh, if you surprise a bobcat in the open he is likely to pretend to be Real Cool about it while he wanders casually behind some cover. Then he will probably take off like a rocket. Their camo is top notch and they are extremely good at taking advantage of cover. Undoubtedly we walk right past them all the time. Many ranchers and other outdoor people have never seen one though they live in prime cat country.

Tom, I just about grew up in the woods and have only seen one of those kitty's in my life. Nice pictures.
