A Nice Oldie from the Pounded Park!

Made a trip to the park the other night as usual for a Thursday - I started off digging some deep iron and a couple beavertails, and then got a consistent high tone about 2 hours into the hunt. Got down to the 9" level and brushed away the dirt to see a silver coin of some type at the bottom. I carefully dug around it and dislodged it from the dirt, and much to my surprise there's a silver quarter staring back at me! Poured water over the coin, and noticed that the eagle on the reverse side was a little different - WhooHoo! Seated Quarter! My first ever! Went on to dig a 1903 Indian and a 1916 D Wheat

This is my oldest coin ever dug, and finding coins this old is a challenge in this part of the country! Just when I think the park is getting stingy, it gives up a monster! :clapping:

Now that's a great find in anybody's book...
Congrats

Well done! I'd probably faint if I found a beauty like that!

Nice CZ, the first seated Quarter is always special!
Gratz!

Good one. Good for you

Congrats on a rare and fantastic find ! :clapping:

Ah, the heraldic eagle--an elusive bird! Congrats CZ!

Congrats on a fantastic find!

Way to go!! just when you thought it was not happening...lol... gotta love when things just happen sometimes.. had the same thing today. Haven't been finding anything much in a while and was starting to think the slump would never end and 15 minutes later a sweet sound at 94 and at the bottom of the hole was a 1902 Barber quarter... thank goodness.
