Over the weekend I was treated to a pleasent suprise in my mailbox. I had received the Minelab Housing Wrap form Ron@ Ron's Dixie Metal Detectors ,upon opening the package I was curious as to what I was looking at , my intial impression was good ,and the quality was immeditaley apparent. It is a housing wrap that covers the control box . It is designed to protect the housing of your detector. If you notice when you hunt and sit your detector down to retrieve the target the housing sits on the ground,Causing scratches, exposing it to dust, dirt, and potencialy falling over. With this new '' Housing Wrap "" the control box is now protected from being scratched and beat up. The new housing wrap is padded ,easy to get on and off ,and creates a stable base so it wont fall over. It would be a wise investment to protect your detector. It is a ''sporty'' black color, real well made and makes the detector look good too . ...........They can be purschased from Ron's Dixie Metal Detectors. Thanks to Ron for Sending me this wrap. Its a great item and one everyone should use ...................

A couple weeks ago I looked at the bottom of my GT and was really kind of depressed. It hadn't taken very long to start accumulating scratches and nicks.

Ron's Dixie Metal Detectors cover is great, besides what Adam said above, it also keeps your unit off the wet moist ground which has always kind of scared me. Moisture and electronics don't mix.

I believe this cover is a necessity as well as toggle switch boots. I got some from Mouser Electronics recently P/N N5032B-17 after my toggles had a gritty sound when I recently used the pinpoint and discrimination toggles.

Ron, This is a great idea, and the quality and ease of putting it on is well thought out.

Thanx

I saw your ad/post for one of these covers and thought - Doesn't look like much.......
But the real thing changed my mind pretty quick. Well made, padded, and fits nice an snug around control box on my GT. I removed my homemade stand recently because of added weight. This required me to be really careful when setting the GT down. This cover thing removes all my fears in this regard. It won't protect from water but sure will keep beach sand, grit, and dirt from getting on the control box. Ive even rerouted my cable around the box and UNDER the cover. Nice snug and clean. I like it a lot. Thanks. Pics to follow as soon as I get some photos taken. Don

Adam,

Does the wrap cause much drag or extra weight in the water when fully submerged?

And good luck with that ring,I guess you'll be off to the jeweller on Monday to have it checked out !!!!!!!!!

Thanks,
Tony.

but I bet the other is good , but I really am not qualified to answer that , I just dont hunt in the water , but would sure love to try if someone wants to send me a free excal I would be all over water hunting........

As we had these made to protect the housing and battery pods on the Excalibur from getting scratched up when using on the Beach. I really don't know until someone emails me about it. Hope this helps you some. HH, Ron@ Dixie
