Temps are working on getting right. Need a couple of good frosty mornings to get the woods in shape for some good swinging. 41 degrees when I fired up the A T about 6:45 this morning. Worked another stretch of the old park we were at yesterday and managed 2 silver dimes. A 51d and a 58d. Also got 3 wheat cents and 1 being a somewhat rough 1912d. Got another one of those curio whats its. About a 16oz bar of something. I can't make out all the lettering of the words on it. Anybody have a clue? HH jim tn

Looks like you may have found a silver bar! I can make out the row of 9s ath the bottom. Silver bars are usually stamped .9999 for the purity.. Congrats!

NO WAY! :surprised::drool::puke: ...............................way? Is it? or a copy? why does it look all corroded?

I am going to file a spot shortly. Wife has a cold, so I've been running errands. The corrosion doesn't look right for a silver bar. It is marked 9999, thinking it is a copy of sorts, too. I'd buy a round for all if it is silver here at Bubba's Pub. HH jim tn

I also hope it is silver ... but do not know if I can go for that beer at Bubbas pub, can you send me the money of drinking?
Congrats for the finds,

Nice hunt, Jim! My dad sometimes had silver or gold investment bars /ingots at his stamp & coin shop - that does look like one. I'd like to see it cleaned up - couldn't make out all of the text.

I wish, but doesn't appear to be. I filed an edge last night and gave it the silver test and sadly to say, it flunked. It appears to be lead. I wasn't to optimistic with all the corrosion, but I am working on cleaning it better to see if I can determine what the wording is. But, I am not yet ready to give up on finding a gold coin and a large piece of silver. You all take care, and thanks. HH jim tn

Surely you would have known it was lead just by the weight wouldn't you have? What else could it be I wonder. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't lead alot heavier than silver? Awesome finds nonetheless!! Congrats and HH
