Man.....the colors are just so radiant at this time of year in this part of the world. This was on the way to my fresh water swimming hole today.

Here's the sand at the beach. I used the AT Pro in the junky, shallow water. The deep stuff was retrieved with the ATX. This place has been hit hard by others.....but not hard enough. :)

Here's the coins today. Where have all the rings gone?

We always enjoy your pictures John. I didn't get out today, but had the ATX out to the city beach yesterday afternoon. No gold, but $10.25 in clad and 1 Swiss Franc. The water is hit hard so I try to find the deep sand where I have an edge and was rewarded with some older deep coins. The gold must be down there somewhere. :detecting: Syd

Where have all the rings gone?

The cherry pickers got them all

OR

The gold buyers are loosing as the gold slips from the $1700s down into the low $1200s.

OR

Maybe this is just what you missed last year...:nopity:

That's pretty well the same scenario here. The last couple of hunts, I scored a ring each. But.....I enjoy it either way. My favorite places to hunt are in fact the ones hunted out by others. Most of the shallow junk targets have been removed, leaving all the deeper stuff for the ATX to get. I am going to try the ATX in some old parks, to see if I can get any Fishscales too deep for the other hunters. Just looking for low-high signals should be quite simple.

John, let us know how you do in that search for small silver in old parks. I have been thinking of doing the same thing, except that I was planning to take two detectors. I plan to search for a promising target with the ATX, mark the spot, then try to confirm it with a VLF machine. I remember seeing a You Tube video a couple of years ago where someone in England was using this method to find silver coins. He would scan a section of field with a powerful pulse machine, then switch to a VLF to further examine the targets. If the low-high is reliable at 6" depth on a small silver coin this might be productive. As I'm writing this post, I just remembered that there is a silver dime 6" under my back lawn that I put there years ago to test detectors. I haven't tried the ATX on it but I'll check it out tomorrow morning...Syd

John, those pictures are well cool,i guess we just take it all for granted the scenery while we are out detecting,i am out this weekend in a beautiful location over here in the UK and will take my camera with me,as the trees are just starting too turn colour.

@ Syd BC,the method that you mentione that is on YouTube ie using a Pulse 1st then a VLF machine after is called the paint method,i wont put a link up as i dont want possible problems of adverts appearing.

I do use this method and it works very well, its not my video by the way as far as i can make out it was developed if you can call it that by a guy called Gordon Heritage, its just a method that i also use,its best used when you have a site that you suspect a possible deep hoard is on.it takes a longer time as you are using 2 detector to cover the ground but it certainly gives you a very good idea on if its a good target or not.I guess its all about the effort to reward ratio and on a decent site then its well worth using this method.

I was sort of going to the same thing also with another detector, but that other detector was going to be my buddy's machine. We were going to do comparisons as it saves time.
