Very nice Digger! Is that a carved bullet finial to the right and below that j hook in the second pic?

Hi Larry, Its a Williams cleaner type one bullet that has been pulled. It looks like the guy had a heck of a time getting it out of his gun. I found it in a Union camp that I hunt. I found another pulled cleaner bullet in a confederate camp here in Carlisle PA last week also. It was carved on to. It looks like those type of bullets were hard to extract. Later HH

It's a bayonet Scabbard finial. Thanks for looking. HH
 
the type 1 cleaner sort of looks like it comformed to the base of a Enfield, think it may have been double loaded
