A Motor Scooter or a Screaming Trail-Bike with a Power-Band

I am a F75 new-bee. However, I got my Fisher 1285 out from the closet this morning (before going to work) and covered an area where my F75 had been. I made some interesting finds. The lower priced detector like a F-5 or my czpro7a or the 1285 are plain fun, especially for one (like me) who is serious (but not serious/serious), and doesn't really want to learn the F-75 and deal with all the frustration. It is true...the F-75 has a learning curve, especially for guys who are not that experienced. To be frank, I don't know if I am serious enough to learn (or patient enough) to learn the F-75. The F-75 really is for the serious MD (metal detecting) person and for the seriously patient. Besides, i am not all that anxious to dig a foot in the ground. I just enjoy the outdoors, making some interesting finds and enjoying MD without dealing with the high-sensitivity. I believe that stores and expert MD persons truly understand that the F-5 and the G-250 (etc.) are much more enjoyable for the majority public. HENCE, they should encourage the purchase of more suited systems. This may mean having some psychology courses or mind reading ability :)

Heck, my sales person (Clyde) pushed the higher end F-75...that is his detector of choice...but he is in the top 1% of MD. When I am preaching, I forget sometimes that theological words I have learned and studied and digested in 10 years of school makes such great sense to me...but most do not have a clue (Words like justification? Sanctification? etc.) I've become so educated and so familiar, that at times I cannot go back years ago and remember how it was when I just became a Christian (sorry, for the illustration...it is the best I can do to try to illustrate my feelings.) I'm not blaming my sales person by any stretch (he truly believes in the F75 and is selling detectors that ringing his bell); nevertheless, I really think there needs to be more sensitivity in this area (again...my sales person was a really kool guy throwing in a 6" head...great deal...I may one day love him for directing me this way.) The words used my most MD persons "it is the best and greatest!" Well...that may be true, but I may be better suited with a motor scooter than a trail bike with a power-band...making the motor scooter the best/greatest for me.

Most MD people never hit the forums...it is for the ones that have MD in their blood (like hunters or fishermen/ladies). Sorry for being preachee, but I do feel this way. I believe I would have been much more satisfied having a F-5 with a 11dd coil and then with a few more dollars...a tiger shark. I wish, I wish.

O well...back to learning the F75...but one day you may see it up for sale. I leave for Africa for a month (and taking an old detector), but if you have a tiger shark & F-5...and you want a trail bike with a power-band...then let's talk :) thelinkoffice@gmail.com (disclaimer... let me say again, I am not throwing stones at the F-75 or my sales person...both are good and honest; I just am not suit for the high-end...mega machine.)

you can read, write, and trace?..if so,then give your 75 a "fair" shake!..you will be thanking "clyde" as you learn, and "adjust" to this magnificent,"fun" instrument!..good luck!

The F75 is a powerhouse...that's for sure. If mental fatigue is kicking in due to all the stuff it hears, don't be afraid to ramp down the sensitivity and ramp up the discrimination. You won't lose as much depth as you would think, but it can settle the nerves considerably. If you do decide that the F75 is just "not for you" I would strongly consider the Omega 8000. It doesn't give up much in the depth department (almost none on silver...especially if you get the optional 11"DD coil) but it is smooth, predictable and quiet. It seems a bit more oblivious to the smaller, tiny conductors but still hot on coins. I love the F5 too...so it's a tough decision...but the Omega has won me over since the 11" DD coil was released. Good luck on sorting things out!

I just recently purchased the F75 as well........ but, I really enjoy the "learning curve"! I have an old beat-up Garrett CX III, a Troy Shadow X-5, a Detector Pro Pirate, and this new F75. It's gonna take me a while to get used to and assimilate all the information the F75 is processing for me...... but, I will figure this baby out!

I like "a turn on and go" machine, but I also want to be able to go beyond where I have been....... even over the same ground. And, I think this machine is goning to do that for me.

If you're a preacher/pastor...... you must have patience! LOL So give this machine some patience. After all, you do already own it!

your statement of going over where you have been is primarily WHY i bought the 75!..with this baby,it's almost like hunting virgin ground again!..opens the field up,and keeps the hunts smokin' hot!

Out with my F75 again today. I was where civil war relics were possible. I tuned out iron and found iron. A few nails and a 4" looking spike was my tally. I had many false readings/digs. I even lowered the sensitivity and tried the 6" coil. I must say, that I miss the simplicity and the quietness of my other detectors. I am destined to sell. I realize I'll lose a few hundred, but I will end up with a machine that I enjoy. Going deep, deeper, deepest is not my desire at the expense of listening to chatter. SO...anyone wanting a F75 that is less than a week old? I'm headed to the F-5 or O-8000. I'll be in Africa for a month beginning the 8th so it may have to wait until I return.

Question: Do the Garretts or Minelabs chatter?

Rick

Went out yesterday afternoon for a little over an hour....... onto a Civil War battle site that has been hunted since the 1980's. I've been hunting it myself since 1990. And, in one of the trashier areas (old house site with outbuildings that are long, long gone), I was able to pull out a couple of CW bullets..... a fired Enfield, and a dropped Marshall Texas Enfield. Both of these would already have been found, except for all the iron nails and other house site debris in the ground. Yep.... gonna love this machine!

Thank you. Why does everyone insist on winding these detectors out to their max, in all situations. That is probably the main reason people fail with these Fishers and it is, in fact, rarely needed. Get to know the unit with factory settings, first - play with the DISC and tones and other features, before you start wanking on the gain controls.

the damn thing will virtually find the world in factory!..as mentioned,if ya feel the need to crank it,then take it to a "cooked" OLD area, with few "targets",and open it up in (a,m!)..one powerful a** detector!

All I have ever used is Fisher (I now have three machines). Do you think that my F75 is flawed? I am not having much success with it. I'm not a novice, but I'm not an expert either. I wish I had someone close that had a F75 that I could check it against.

Have you watched the many vids on You Tube for the F75? There is a wealth of information there, like having that elusive someone there to instruct you. Give that a try.

The F75 is not for the fain of heart...it is a hard machine to adapt to but once it clicks with you most sights can unlock some great finds.

When you hunt at a disc of six and the sens is as high as you can go it helps unmask targets. It does sound like this is too much machine for you. If you are a relic hunter then you have to get use to the beast it chatters but it also finds the relics that are hiding

Try this:

1. Do the factory reset = Trigger forward + red button + turn it on all together .
2. Ground Balance your F75 = trigger forward while pumping the coil
3. Reduce Sensitivity even to 1 ( do not to be afraid to use 1 - even at 1 your F75 should pick up coins at 6-7 inches deep)
4. Set discrimination to 19 and live it there.
5. Live Notch at 1 and do not touch it, until you will understand how it work.
6. Set Tone to 1
7. Set Process to de
8. Use headphones or up your volume.
9. Do not touch anything else.
10. Watch F75 videos available on goggle video.

Thats all you have to do to get started

If your F75 still chatter or bounce take it back to your dealer.

If you are happy with your detector, up the sensitivity little bit at the time and live everything else alone till you get more comfortable with .
Do not dig anything with VID lower than 23.
Dig to start of only targets with solid repeated sound while sweeping L>R and R>L and observe VID numbers, till you get use to it. Good target should have steady numbers.
Go out and try to find something to dig and let as know what did you go and what do you think of your F75 now.

MIKE: Thank you for taking the time to give me some pointers. When I return in a month from Africa, I will give this a serious try.

Peace,

rick

I didn't want to discourage you before since you seemed to want to try something new.......
But, I'm just the opposite :) I miss my 7A pro (especially on the beaches) so you have a winner there. That was a do it all, built like a tank unit for land & sand without all the noise.......

Bill
