Went for a solo spin, with the Excal on 07/01/2007, into a 1023P -0.7L and SW winds at 5-10. Was in the water by 730P. It started a little slow, but picked up. The seaweed is so bad, that I could barely swing, without having to clean it off. The nut from this location can be seen from the glasses south.

Total clad count at this location was $3.38. Recovered a couple of corroded copper links from a bracelet. 2 pairs of sunglasses, one of which were Oakley "SPIKE". They look aweful expensive. May loot them for a new pair, as the lens is popping out on 1 side. Huntress says they look good on me.

Also recovered a .925 hoop earring, another James Avery ring, "CON CARINO" and the prize is a fine 14K yellow gold woman's ring with an oval ruby colored stone and CZs. Left this location at 11P and moved. The final location was not productive at $.51. and can barely be seen north of the glasses. No loss! Hunted this spot from 1115P-1215P and baled. It was mighty good to see gold for a change!

Mighty good little write up, GH. I found a pair of Oakleys once and still wear them, nice find there. The rings are sweet, too and thats a nice collection of fishing tackle in the bargain!

Im curious - since that first location was producing well enough, why did you leave? Was it the seaweed? Sea monsters?

You're gonna have to wear those Oakley's when you hunt to avoid being recognized for the surf looter you are.

Good Hunt, Mate!

Well DavHut, my covetous pirate nature just carried me further east. No particular reason, but I felt like the spot had played out. It had sanded and the seaweed was so horrible, I could barely swing. It was worth it!

Thanks for the response GH. I admire you and all of the other pirates, there in the surf. I live 170 miles from a coastal shore, so I have lots of questions about it. Thanks again!
