A million MDers couldn't clean out this beach!

Thursday after work I headed down the hill to La Jolla Shores Beach for a little low tide fun and realized I had left my batteries recharging at the office! Once I got there, I saw three other guys detecting and thought, "oh hell, they've cleaned the place out anyway." Something made me go back the next day and I had the whole place to myself. I searched for about 2.5 hours and my shoulder was hurting towards the end, so I switched to "swingin' lefty". My lefty technique isn't that good, but apparently good enough! I pulled this nice band out of the sand! I vowed to never let the sight of other detectorists make me think a beach as big as Shores could ever be cleaned out.

Oh, I also found a hoop earring, which is no big deal itself. But, it matches perfectly one I found two weeks ago in the same spot! I think I've got the matching pair! Happy hunting everyone. Nice minus tides coming up Thanksgiving weekend.....

Nice chunk of gold. Nothing like finding something in a "cleaned" out area.

Nice ring, well done. I never let the presence of other operators deter me from detecting. Most operators I have seen have lousy technique, I can remember doing the main area at surfers paradise beach, just after INDY the surfers told me that between 5 to 7 operators had flogged the area prior to my arrival. I loaded up with my gear and went to work. I found a total of $79.85c in coins, a platinum ring weighing 5 grams, a Stirling silver ring 8 grams, a Stirling silver bracelet from New Zealand weighing in at 41 grams, and a canon digital camera, complete with memory card etc and the usual cheap jewelery items. I sell mine at the markets which helps to pay the rent. Most people swing too fast in my opinion, I swing very slow between 6 to 7 seconds from side to side. This allows the detector to go just that bit deeper and I always do reasonably well. I done a local sand playground last night and got $16.50c. I have found about 8 or nine gold rings from this one park alone and another two in one night, a 18k sapphire and diamond ladies ring and a girls 9k signet ring also containing a small sapphire. I have also found 3 sets of earrings, as well as heaps of single ones, some gold some silver. I am always amazed to find gold rings in a playground. I have had the opportunity to return some items to the relieved owners, which gives you a good feeling. Regards Nugget.

That's a fact Ziphius,
We've been on beaches after guys with Fisher 1266's? Minelab's, C scopes etc.
We've seen many leave with their faces tripping them, then we get the beach to ourselves and most times clean up.
Once said to a guy with his minelab that even if there were no finds, it was such a nice day and we were having fun to which he replied. This is no fun. Needless to say we continued to have all the fun
.
