A Merc Amid The Trash :cam:

Found a site a while back where an oll lamp factory had been in operation until the 40's,
kinda avoided it as I suspected it was full of can slaw and pull tabs....Not a one - I was shocked.
Not to say there wasnt trash, there was, hits everywhere. I have not dug this much in ages.
Need a file ?

Or one of these ?????

Found a cement pad right away covered with dirt long ago, from here I pulled these

a 40 nickle, 4 wheats and a no cash value token.
From there I moved into the open field where I started to see a litter of broken milk
glass and brass fixtures.

In this trash I pulled the 41 merc shown above...Aint she pretty . Thanks for looking and HH....Terri

Nice coins Terri and a Merc. is always pretty. Bet there are some more old coins there. HH jim tn

Way to stay after it.

That's a good way to go at it.

It can be frustrating, but there are good finds in trash.

But you have to have some diligence to make any headway.

Congrats,

Tabdog

I have been doing a little research on the site and have found, that this area, now
all field and a good 5 acres of it, was once the smallest town here in IN with only
22 residents in 1928. I am assuming that all worked at this one factory, Amazing
what you can find by keeping your eyes on the ground. I had hunted last year the
still standing structure and thought then I was in the wrong place, not old enough.
Maybe now I am in the right place, if there was one silver there are many, time and
many more trips back will tell. And even the trash is interesting :lmfao:

wow! wtg terri. yeah, they all look nice! i haven't found a merc in ages. i think the place deserves another look or two! great job, i hope you find more. good luck, and hh,

Nice hunt :beers:

You having to work so hard for that silver is what makes it so rewarding. From 10 years of motocrossing...30 years of leg squats..and getting cracked on my Harley a few years back...my knees would have given out after finding file #8:bouncy:
That place l@@ks like it might have some more goodies hidin' in there somewhere. I hope you get to hunt again soon...and pull some more good stuff:thumbup: Talk to you soon.

Great hunting Terri! Congrats on the Merc! It sure is a sweet coin. You stuck with it and found some good stuff. Heck I like the token. To me that is a good find. Good luck to you on your next trip there, Beale.

Thanks Bryce, and trust me I feel it today, hurst my wrist to lift my coffee cup

I have no doubt there are many more nice targets there, I could use a few more coils
on the ground, that area is so large and so open. A friend bought the ajoining property
and has his eye on this field, would Love to search it all before he parks more junked out
cars here too

Terri

Thanks for the nice comments guys . I had almost forgotten how good it feels
to just get out and really dig hard. Too many long work days had gotten in the way,
gonna take a few weeks off and just enjoy. I Love the Fall and plan on putting alot
of the research I had done to good use :detecting:

Terri

Time for a rest stop.

Nice going Terri. Glad you finally had a chance to go out and play! It is refreshing even if it hurts the next day.:) Get some arm rest and go at it again. You know where to start!! (Merc city). HH

I hunted trashy sites all weekend and found no Merc, dang it! Im about due - I haven't seen one in a while.
Its true that this hobyy demands persistence. You have it, it seems. Good for you!
