A Little Watch with the Impact Today

Got this Fossil today with the Impact. I like the thoroughness of this detector--the watch was about 8" down in a very heavily hunted section--likely others missed this because of the steel.
Seeing them for about $120 USD. Totally enjoy hunting with this detector--getting a nice feel for the audio in D2.

... best detectors on the market. :thumbup: I know I definitely enjoy mine for all types of hunting sites and tasks.

So, you are working on learning what the Di2 two-tone mode has to offer. The bulk of my Impact hunting is in Di3 in very dense iron littered Relic Hunting sites, and Di2 in lower-target sites or where nails are the primary offending iron-based target.

What type of site were you hunting?

What was the search coil used, and the settings and the operating frequency you used?

We dipped below freezing this morning, and out clear sunny days have vanished with only a cloudy sky above and it's now warmed to a chilly 35° but I am headed out for a while with my Impact & 7" Concentric coil. Hoping to find some out-of-the-way site to hunt that might have been ignored, or some renovation work or ?? Doesn't matter what I come up against, with the Impact in-hand I have everything covered. :thumbup:

Pretty cool find, getting colder here. I'm only 2 hours or so west of CJC, funny come winter, they may not have any snow and folks are still enjoying detecting, while we are buried and freezing. If I get the urge can always go East.
 
Detecting weather finally just got here. 78 degrees today. This is the start of our 8 month or so 80 degree hunting weather. Folks make fun of us for saying "it's a dry heat" but at least we don't have to shovel it! :clapping:
 
I've always liked Fossil watches. I have one I bough years ago, it still looks great and runs great too, it's not a rolex, but it didn't have a rolex price tag either :)
 
Is it still working ? I'm surprised you found it that deep. Great find. I've always wanted a Fossil watch with the blue dial. I think they used to call them Fossil Speedway or something like that.
 
Monte at the beach I run the Di2 at 80 with the stock coil 85 with the elliptical. I har guys talking about running up int the 90's find that it's too chopped / clipped to make good calls. I also take the Fer Vol down to 1, and bring up my high tone to hear it a bit better. I also use the 20 kHz--find it's deeper in sand and hits the low conductors better, obviously. Seems to have nice audio--nice extension on those signals that are more solid--broken on the caps. Watch came from freshwater sand. Did $23 in coins last week from a black sand beach (eliptical) great coil to swing.

One thing Ive noticed is that where you have a forest with leaves on the ground the ground will freeze last because of the decomposition.

To find anything in my beach environment is good--picked over end of season spot. Did a lot of testing with the deep mode but in sand the liveliness of the Di2 / 20 kHz works well for me. Reminds me of a pulse with a lot more information in the tone. Little bit of optimization too--what Im used to with the Cuda / GQA2. I've no problem listening to foils if there's gold around...

Just envy from here in Vale where we are enjoying some very chilly, but pleasant, fall weather.

I sure wouldn't make fun of you. Instead I feel kind of sad that the other 4 months might be up in the scorcher category and not very huntable.

Now, with your post, I think I'll have to check with a few RV Parks down that direction and try to work in a couple of weeks for 'winter vacation.' Not in my budget to be a full-time snowbird and head south for the entirety of the winter, but a couple of weeks where it's warmer than colder would be nice.

I lived in Phoenix for four years, 1985-1989 and drove a 1967 Mustang GT without A/C....as an 18 year old I didn't care....now, I would totally care - lol

But even though it gets hot there, I agree, there's something to be said for dry heat, humidity plus heat is an awful thing, not sure how those folks back east endure their summers.
