A little Sunday afternoon hunt.:garrett:

Returned to the site that I dug the shield (for lack of knowing what to call it) plate. Still don't know what it is. Opted to hunt between the curb and a tree line and within 2 or 3 minutes of starting out I dug the 41 Merc., my very first target. All in all, dug more clad, some very recent drops, then is usually the norm of this spot. Hit the wheats and the 1930 Buffalo in a small area between two trees. Was working my way back to my vehicle and got a shallow quarter reading showing 88-89. From about 2" I popped the 37d Washington. Smiled, and called it a wrap. All in all, not a bad 2 1/2 hour hunt. Hope everyone had a great weekend. HH jim tn

Nice job on the recoveries Jim..

WTG Jim. I love those mercury dimes and buffalo head nickels. I like the silver quarter too, but those other two coins always get my attention. The Indian has so much dignity and the mercury dime has so much class. They really paid attention to detail back in the good old days.

Congrats on the sweet Silver!! A Merc is one of my favorite silvers to see! Love the Buffalo also!! Great hunt! Beale.

I agree with the above statements. That is part of the reason why I like older coins, they were classier. I have found a couple of Indian Heads and they are a prize for me up here.

Another great hunt, Jim! You sure have a good roll going!! I agree with the others re: the beauty of the early coins. Anyone know what prompted the image of Mercury to be used on the dime?
