A little silver today

adam in cal

a near perfect 1909 S barber dime , with one slight /big problem . I recovered it from some dirt piles and it would appear that it was damaged by some earth moving equiptment too bad this is a nice coin, this is cleaned and pretty. It was your typical grungy mess when I first scooped it up. [attachment 39332 BD-09-back.jpg]

I have bagged 5 wheats a buffalo and two silver dimes , a 1917 merc and the 09 barber pictured in the above post (all from the piles). The ammount of dirt piles is very overwhelming, some days I cant find the magic, others I can get focused , it hurts the hell out of my arm/shoulder to hunt these piles you are always at a goofy angle and it's just real akward trying to not fall down while also trying to work slow enough to hear good signals, certian piles I feel I have a better shot with than others so I have been sticking to the ones that were put there the first couple days as these seem to be the likley canidates for a silver donation .......take care .......

My favorite is one foot in a tangle of underbrush with a strangler vine trying to entrap me, one eye watching so I don't step on a fire ant mound and the other looking for slippery wildlife, and I don't even see that well. The good stuff may be there, but my motivation sometimes just ain't up to it and I take the easy route.
Getting to the good stuff is not always a walk in the park, and your post put it so well. Good work. HH Don

Darn it Adam!!! i wished i was still up there.....its a beautiful coin.. Congratulations!!!

we got rain today,I wish you could make it back soon too . I think the next possibility is gonna be the ''lincon st school"" this rain may help as the targets over there will probally be deep as all get out . It is on the oldest sandborn map and the building is still standing it is now being used as county offices .Maybe you will find a silver there too, you were the only other person I know of that got a silver from that demo , good work . I am up at number 9 from that site ...

Adam, your result were very impressive...NINE coins! that lincoln street school IS very old. That whole area is very old as you know. Not sure when were coming up but i am looking forward to it. Keep up the good work.

I made a little shadow box for the coins, minus the wheaties I still have room for more just in case  , it is 5 barbers 3 mercs and a seated , 3 buffs and 2 injun in the frame , I didnt put any jewelry, bullets, pistol balls, buckles or other relics in there , I am more of a coin guy [attachment 39431 oak-st.-school-2.jpg]
