A little silver, some green Buffaloes, career "good" keeper #2000 and a 13 year project finally is complete.

Hasn't been my best year detecting but there were a couple of special moments. Number one was digging my first and only gold coin in 25 years, a 1906 $2.50 coronet type. Today I dug a 1916 mercury dime (no D) which was find # 2000 since I dug my first keeper (a 1900-O Barber dime on 10/31/87). I have listed all my keepers on a word spreadsheet which makes it easy to do all types of sorts on coin dates, types, location where found, etc...Again this 2000 total does not include any wheat cents. I only count silver, colonials, large cents, flying eagle & Indian head cents, 2 cent pieces, shield, V, Buffalo and war nickels, civil war tokens and pre-1900 foreign coppers. Was really happy to find a Utah state quarter last weekend because that ended a 13 year project of digging all 50 state quarters. Mint mark didn't matter, I just wanted one from each state. I don't recommend trying this unless you want to drive yourself crazy !!! I would say I dug at least 1500 quarters to put that set together !!! Season is winding down here so it was nice to dig a few more this morning. Along with the mercury dime I also dug 2 green and corroded Buffalo nickels. On the road to 3000 finds, only 998 to go !

Major Congrats on the keeper milestone but the Quarter project does seem like a massive undertaking, it would require a pursuit of modern clad coins instead of the old good stuff most of us love. Count me out.

Great work Ed- congrats to you! I am currently at 1996, although I count semi-key wheats (12-S, etc). Whatever method we use to add 'em, still gotta find 'em!

Continued best wishes on the road to 3000!!

Jeff

You've done well Ed......nice grand total....I hope you get many more hunts in and go for 10,000......!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on the UTAH quarter and all the great finds over the years.

Be careful when you clean the golden spike on the back of the quarter. LOL

Nice job! Would love to see that list of keepers  I still need 4 more state quarters (19 if you count mintmarks)... now its time to go after the territory and national park quarters. Take care and HH, Mike.
