A Little Silver & a Little Gold...

Blind Squirrel

Howdy--

I haven't been out detecting for over a week - that's TERRIBLE! My sweet wife went to Louisiana to visit her brother and do some fishing out in the Gulf so I stayed close to home to take care of business and the dogs. She had a great visit and caught a lot of fish and now she is home again and I am free to detect! Yesterday I went back to those abandoned homes that I have been hunting. I had been accepting VDI's from +16 to +24 and +48 to +93 on my V3i. Yesterday I decided to open it up and accept +9 to +93. I sure did dig a lot of Memorials 56 in total. I also dug $1.65 in clad, 4 wheat cents ( the oldest a 1936), a silver Jefferson and a 1.7 gram 14K gold ring. I'm glad that I opened up the discrimination - the ring VDI'd at 12-13. I still have the back yards to hunt. I'll just cross my fingers that the back yards are as productive as the front yards have been. Best of luck and ...

Nice hunting! I have opened up my discrimination too in hopes of digging the elusive gold! So far my reward has been lots of foil (foiled again) and pull tabs.

Silver and gold, congrats

Silver and gold digs, congrats!

Congrats on those finds. Opening up that notch window makes for a lot more signals to dig but it pays off!!!

Thanks Mcdetect!--

I know what you mean about the tinfoil (I had to laugh at that! "foiled again") not to mention .22 brass and partial pull-tabs! This ring was in a perfect spot to dig though - it was about 5" from a driveway and about 10 feet from the front door - a good place for jewelry to have been lost. Best of luck and...

Thanks Sataro! You are correct - more signals to dig. I usually have a pretty high trash tolerance. It depends on how much time I have and how hot it is. This west Texas sun can get me dizzy if I dig too many targets hahhaha. Best of luck and...

Silver and gold...doesn't get much better than that!

Gold in any form or weight is a great find and it's getting harder and harder to find.....so a big congrats on both the gold ring and the silver nickle and other coins:thumbup:

Thanks REVIER! It DID get a little better - The ring fit my wife's finger perfectly! She is wearing it now! Best of luck and...

Thanks doc holiday232! I didn't have that much luck. All that she braught back were pictures! The last time she went there she caught some nice red fish but had trouble bringing them back with airport security. Oh well, at least my brother in law has a full freezer hahahah. Best of luck and...

Thanks Goldstike! You are correct - gold finds , for me at least, are few and far between. At first, I thought that the ring was probably a junk-ring because it had a lot of dirt on the inside and I didn't see any markings (I'm not the BLIND Squirrel for nothing hahah). When I got home and cleaned it, I saw the beautiful "14K". The BEST thing about the find was that it fits my wife's finger perfectly! Best of luck to you and...

Hi Blind Squirrel, silver and gold make a perfect day, congratulations! Have you already cleaned the coin (with soda powder?)? I understand, more signals in the heat is not funny, but in the evening you can drink more beer ;-) You have had luck to open your Disk! Thanks for your story!

Best wishes, Jürgen
