A little shade tree fixing keeps Pro in action while away fm home

My Pro is one of the first ones sold. Whole batch was recalled for a little tinkering. (At no cost) It has been my successful heavy hitter for years now. Wouldn't you know while away the housing worn (broke) off the shaft. Machine still runs fine. No way can I put it away, and not enough time to have repaired. So tried a couple of things. Crazy glue, that was a joke. Belt mounted, coil cable, too short. Luckily most of my pants got cargo pockets just above the knee. Housing fits snugly, leaves enough cable, and will be fine till I get home. Of course the old boy is out of warranty. BUT surprisingly, new housing, tune up, estimated cost $50. How can you beat that? Another Garrett option, 35% discount on new Pro was offered on trade. Thought that over, for $50, decided on the repair.

Oh and bye the way, the 5x8 coil has been great for off beach hunting. The targets are in the nooks & crannies vs sanded in beaches.
I leave the wet sand, wading to the Infinium L/S

Glad you got it back into action, Dancer. I like the 5 X 8 coil myself, but found since I had surgery on my hand last year the stock coil is easier to use in the water. Guess it's the added weight and I keep it right on the bottom and the 5 X 8 wants to float away and not as easy for me to keep on the bottom.

I been looking for cargo pants with zippered legs myself so I can go shorts in the mid day sun. I always use the 5x8 coil and have no issues with it besides coverage. Just takes a while to search large areas.

Check out Gander Mountain, Cabals, etc. Amazon.com. let your fingers do the walking.

Sounds like a plan. Im looking at headphones and a shovel too.

Ah, I'd please don't hunt with a shovel in the parks. Good for woods , around your house. Talk to any of our sponsors about a good plug cutting tool.
Shovel will only get you tossed from the park. Maybe even get the park off limits for hunting.
