After yesterdays Findmall Korean hack job, I was afraid to log in for a bit, didnt want to get my identity stolen, but then figured maybe that would be a good thing for me in the long run!...

Interesting week with the 70...I had to drive over to Wisconsin on a job, me and Rosie and the 70 left here at 3:30am Wed to try to get through Chicago before rush hour....hit a roadside park in Paddock Lake Wis...swept pretty clean, got a dime and 2 pennies, so kudos to whoever....worked all day on the job and got er done, tried to sleep, but the big Full moon told me to drive, and so I did, left Wis at 2:30am and got home by 9am..dumped a lot of really dirty clad that were rejected by my local Coinstar in the Chicago Skyway toll booths!.Take that, Rahm! :lmfao: .Rosie got 34mpg on the way there, and 36mpg coming home.. I love this crappy little car!:inlove:...I cleaned the MAF sensor and replaced the PCV valve, and aired up the tires to 40psi before I left and it made a World of difference!

Anyway, early yesterday I had a chance to hunt for only a short time, had to be home by 8:30am, hit some parks and totters...got this...dollar coin was under the swings and DEEP in the wet chips, still got a chirp running a 49 sens, -3 thresh..(thought it was a Q, so pleasant surprise)....found this ring at the Basketball court, junker, but right where a good gold one should have been![attachment 312866 may8-15.jpg] I see a Cannie coming along on his bike, loaded down with cans...hes doing it right, eyeballing the parking lot in the rising Sun looking for shiny things, not 20' from Rosie he stops and commences to pick up a massive coin spill in the gravel parking lot! Well done, Mr. Bud Light Bike Riding Can Hunter, well done indeed!:clapping: We talked for a bit, he has lost over 50lbs since he got hooked on Canning every morning!:surprised:

This am I was up early again, 'over the fence and down the road, searching for silver, hunting for gold'...raining steadily, punched some chip totters and came away with this miniscule loot...in a short time though, so that counts for something..home well before 9am....F70 quick broom...the earring sounded right, foil, but I cant see a stamp mark on it so its most likely junk..:sadwalk:[attachment 312867 may9-15.jpg]

I'm gonna cut off the last two remaining fins on the 11"dd...a guy just dont need them, it seems to be working just fine! For fast and accurate work, I really love this F70 rig..lots of outdoor track meets and soccer events going on now...should be good hunting..What have y'all found lately? Where is everybody? Dont worry about the Koreans and lay out a post please, even if its a stupid little one like this! I double dog dare you to try to match it! I'm going on line and buying another wetsuit today...maybe some other stuff too...

We are in a Solar Minimum cycle it seems, could be another cold Summer.....good week for me considering the alternatives though..I didnt hit a deer or a 'road gator' driving that far in the darkness...got paid and condensed Time effectively, plus, I 'got some' out on the back deck in the warm sultry dark Thurs night! Thats a rare treat! Being married for 35+yrs and all. Back out tomorrow on the hunt for metal...adventure awaits us all once we leave the house! I need to find some gold though, so thats the focus for an old guy....although that back deck experience sure was enjoyable after such a long drive and bringing home the bacon, but it dont pay the bills!..:lmfao:

Great adventures and writeup--Rosie is an amazing machine--reminds me of my last company car,an 02 Impala 6 cyl, would get 32 to 36 on the road and they brag about 28 mpg now days.
I'm almost 75,but the next"warm sultry nite" I'm going to try and get Mama to see what I found on the back deck. LOL

Truthfully? 75yrs old? I figured your last 'Company Car' was a Belgian hauling a beer wagon...maybe even a Shetland with your knife sharpening gear pulling a cart?..

Concerning my 'Big Night'? That really was the highlight of my week! I hate to brag, but the older I get, a guy says what the hell, might be inspirational and give a glimmer of hope to some of the younger guys pulling the plow...Wanted to share this extraordinary event with somebody that might appreciate it! After all, I cant call my Mom and tell Her! Even though I should call her about something, its just not the same, and I doubt she would understand, She only had 6 kids, and I think we were all adopted, or immaculately conceived...

The thought of that conversation is intriguing though..."Hey guess what Mom! I knocked the dust off of it on the back deck!...It wasnt even my birthday or the 4th of July!"

I dont know about you being in a wheelchair with a busted leg, 75yrs old to boot...advice is: Be careful, its not as easy as I remember, I'm only 56 and had a tough go at it, gave it a yeomans effort none the less...in fact, it was quite painful truth be told, good thing it didnt take too long!

O'Reilly just finished his closing remarks and Megyn Kelly was barely into her intro!..:lmfao: It was such a nice warm sultry night though, I came home with big cash, mosquitoes havnt hatched here yet, and we happened to be in the same place at the same time with a tiny spark of rememberances of days gone by..tiny window of opportunity kind of deal...sort of like tripping across a fresh sidewalk tearout with all the gear powered up and ready to go...and so I did...

Enjoyed the story Mudpuppy, especially about the can hunter. I catch myself scanning store parking lots for coins, going to get run over one day doing that. Had a hobo tell me to check the chain link fences around the big box stores for dollar bills that could have blown up against them. Was checking one day, and a nice lady drove up and handed me a ten dollar bill, and told me to get something to eat. Hey, treasure is where you find it. Txquest

I tell you what boys, those Cannies are amazing hunters! We detectorists aint got nothing on them! They are up very early and out, well before Sun-up, ransacking eye finds from the night before..pedaling various and sundry cheapo bicycles loaded down with cans and any potentially valuable bric-a-brac! A guy learns a lot about hunting Human traffic patterns from the Cannies...truly modern day vultures or something akin to coyotes...they got a nose and really know where the stuff is..undercover and invisible is really an art form in and of itself, and they dont have a forum to share tips and advice like we do....about the sweetest thing in Life for a fast hunter like me is to outrun a Cannie to a hot spot...makes a guy get up early and really sharp and on game.....
Mud.

A good place to find cans is at a golf course after they have one of those shotgun scramble starts , you can easily get 10.00 worth in about ten minutes, I know because I do it all the time. Those cans paid for about a 1/3 of my golf expense. I've been trying to get the owner of the course to let me metal hunt on the tee boxes and around the greens but that hasn't happen yet.

A little of nothing..........well, it certainly is interesting coming from you and whether one is a quick broom expert or an old silver hunter, just gettin out there is good for the sole and doing so as often as one can plays with the law of averages for finding treasure. Good luck on your next adventure. HH jim tn

I can just picture Jim Tn bag slung over one shoulder.. Detector in hand swinging away.."Stopping to pick up cans along the way "
........................................................ After a few stops ..his detector sounds off on every back swing "High Can" alert... Hahahahhahahahhaah

wow Mud that was quite the interesting story! One could say you are the..... Energizer Mud Bunny - maybe you can sell Mud bunnies without the drums? Yep, personally knew a can man in my hood. (God rest his soul) He was very well educated but never used his degree. Instead, he loved to dumpster dive and collect cans and anything else he could find (Maybe even a left over pizza) He made pretty good $$$ as it was a full-time job and then some. Although it wasn't enough to keep up with his property taxes (they are quite high here) and well, I digress. Sounds like Rosey is running well. Try dumpin' a can of Sea Foam in the gas and oil. Works wonders in my Saturn. Seems to run smoother. My 2002 Saturn buggy just turned 46,000 original miles  I need to get out more.

What's up Mud?!?!?!

What's with you and Jim finding all these crosses, do you suppose it's a sign?

Nice finds, and always love your stories, they make me laugh my ass off!

Happy Hunting!
