a little more info on the F5 Ground balancing procedure.

I just spent some time evaluating the GB procedure of the F5.......in four different hunitng spots of mine. What I wanted to test was the accuracy of the Phase lock procedure in AT mode.....AND in Disc mode. The regular procedure says to put it in AM first.....and then Gb it (the F5) What I found was that it didnt really CARE if you had the machine in AM or not......it still came up with the exact same numbers every time...................in Disc..............OR in AM.
I was curious about this......expecially after reading how some thought the regular procedure was a bit long winded and tedious. Seems all you have to do is push the phase lock button down.............bob the coil two or three times.....and release the pad while your still pumping. ONE button..........ONE digit..........and about three seconds of time. How can it get any simpler than THAT? In that respect its not hardly any different than the F75 or F70! The only other thing of note.....and this applies to ALL machines.....is you have to not be over any metal when you do it. (But if you ARE.....you'll see it instantly in the phase number) I just thought I'd pass this along to anyone that may be interested........................ Streak!

but that doesnt really have anything to do with THIS post. I just wanted to demonstrate that you CAN GB in disc...and its pretty much the same as Gbing in AM............

when trying to find a clean spot to GB over. This isn't verbatim, instead of sweeping the coil to find a clean spot, bob the coil while slowly walking. If you are familar at all with manual GB it will be easy to determing if you are over iron/trash versus clean ground. You can tell the difference in the audio level of the positive response. It may take a bit to become familiar with it but once you do it's faster IMO than sweeping the coil.

Of course this only applies to the manual GB method not fast grab or phase lock.

you'll know right away if your over a target. I probably look kinda stupid bobbing around in a trashy spot....looking for a clean area....but it works!
You CAN do it with the Fast grab or phase lock too..............but you have to look at the numbers instead...........and of course you have to know what kind of Gb reading that particular piece of ground USUALLY gives up. Easier to flick it in AM and HEAR the response. Nice thing about doing it in Am is that you can hear when you achieve a good balance too. Good point..and good post.............. Streak!

and it is kinda strange feeling at first. But yeah it's sooo much easier!
