A little help

I'm new to this but never had so much fun. I found a ring the other day says 14 ktge,I'm assuming 14 kg,the only thing is its brownish/grey I scatched the bottom with my pocket knife its soft but its a silver color not gold.If its worth cleaning what is the best way.I tried soup and a tooth brush,no luck.Thanks Jason
 
14 ktge is a ring that has been electroplated with 14kt gold. Still a good find, see if it will clean up using NEVR-DULL.
