A little help please Garrett THD

I have a chance to get a Garrett THD hand held (looks a little like the pro pointer) for what looks like a pretty decent price. I know nothing about the Garrett T"HD" Can anybody tell me anything about this?

Thinking about buying a THD and doing a test to compare it to my new Garrett Pro Pointer. The fact that the THD vibrates only is one factor that could create some users grief, but knowing that in advance might not be that much of a problem for others.

Perhaps few people have experience with the THD??? Oh well I tried.

It's marketed for the security aspect of metal detecting, not the hobby side. So it's understandable that there isn't much experience with it.

From what I read on the Garrett site, it's very similar but more expensive than the Pro-Pointer.

The THD is a motion only unit. I bought one right after purchasing a propointer, because I thought it would work about the same. It is much more difficult to locate a target with the THD. I suppose that since it is made for security, it probably works great for that. Save yourself the trouble and get a propointer. I used my THD one time, and then put it on feebay and sent it on its way.

Thank you much Darren...that is what I wanted to know. I do appreciate the input.

Sorry for late response. I don't check the forum everyday. I've had the THDs since long before the Propointer ever came out. The Propointer just blows it away for coinshootin'. The THD doesn't detect from the tip like the Propointer does. It only detects from around the sides of the upper tube portion.
I do use the THD quite extensively while nugget shooting. It can detect extremely small pieces of gold due to its 95kHz. It can even pick up flower gold (gold dust).
Coinshootin'? Not so much. The Propointer. or any number of other pinpointers are better for coonshootin' than the THD.
Anyways, sorry again for late response.
Happy Hunting!

Metal head...Thanx...truly appreciate the input...think I will concentrate on saving my pennies for a pro pointer.
