To Bill or anybody else,
Bill I went out today with your recommendation of 525. I found pennies, couple of quarters and a dime and nickel. I should also say I found a cell phone and six baseballs (not with the coinstrike though).
Is the 525 setting what you use all the time? Could you recommend any others? I'm going to a construction site tomorrow and could use all the advice I can get. Thanks again

Sometimes i use 4-40, 2-10, 2-25,, probly 4-40 the most, they all good, 2-10 when huntin deep seems to work round here <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> or just plain ol FP <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">

Paul,
I usually start out with the sensitivity at 8 and threshold at -5 and go from there. If there is a lot of trash lower the threshold to -25 or -30 and try that. If you still have problems, drop the sens down some.
525 is a good setting but, when I'm hunting a new spot and not sure of the conditions I like to start high and work my way down if neccessary.
When in an area with lots of iron = multiple negative numbers on each sweep, I drop the sensitivity down. Sens 5 and threshold at -5 or sens 4 threshold 0, somthing along those lines. Just gotta try and see what works for you.
Good luck tomorrow
Tom

I usually just recommend 525 as a good starting point as it's pretty stable there. Some beginners tend to get frustrated with higher settings as it can be less stable. No I don't use 525 all the time. Like they said, I let the site dictate the setting, but that will come once you get more experience....good luck, Bill
