A little F70 Snow SILVER!

14 degrees with a decent wind...took the F70 out...ran sens up to 78 and left all my other settings the same, DP tones, -3 thresh, 1disc...

3' of base snow on the local hill means theres targets spread out through the matix from surface to dirt...pretty much like shooting through air...The 70 was hitting all coins solid down to 8-10"...the tones on the deeper ones I left but remembered the location for the thaw...too hard chipping through ice for a penny!

Sorry for the once again blurry pics..it was beautiful out, so I took the one shot from the top hill to share...and good to hear some tones again! The earring is 925 and 3.1gr of silver sweetness! It sounded a little higher than a dime, but not as high as a Q...and not as tight as a coin...Hope you are all well and hunting!

nice to get out! between snow cover and frozen ground plus work I've only had one hunt from nov. 15th 2013 till now! When I do get out, if I find a ring I will most likely be in a trance like smegal on the lord of the rings!

That looks pretty darn cold. Nice going on the silver.

I just can't imagine hunting in the snow.:detecting:

Snow hunting is really not that bad. Few years back I remember hunting a soccer field with @5" of fresh snow...the ground was not frozen underneath it, and I came out of there with a good amount of clad...
This year was an exception though, 10' of snow to date, once it started, it just wouldnt quit! and extended cold sent the frost down to depth...broken water lines and all...we are just now getting our first "snoweater" of the year today, 39 degrees at the moment, SW wind, but forecast is calling for single digits and 20's later this week....

So that leaves sledding hill hunting, which was poor due to the sub Z's kept a lot of the crowds light...nobody wanted to spend any extended time outdoors. I am thinking the snowpiles will not be totally gone until sometime in May, they are really stacked high at all the schools and stores and whatnot...and it will take some really high degree wind to knock them down.

Your nuts Mud! I am taking a break from shoveling the snow off my roof. I now have no intentions of hunting in the snow! I will wait until August when it all melts and ground is thawed!

I hit one of our parks here after our recent thaw and found the ground still a little too "stiff" for any deep digging.
Looks to be warm the next few days. Hopefully that will help loosen things up some.

Good to see your getting out Mud. Always enjoy any and all your posts.

14 degrees?
