Thursday morning the temp was 34F and the weather guesser said that it would get up into the low 50's. Ninth day without going out with the detector was long enough so to the beach I went. Since I would be hunting alone I was not brave enough to go wading in the surf. There were very few brave souls out on the beach.
As usual deciding where to park and start swinging a coil consumed my thoughts as I detoured around a number of car wrecks on my way to the beach. As an aside: Insurance companies now say some of the worst drivers in the US are in South Carolina with far too many of them in the Charleston Area.
Decided to hit the beach at one of the places that rewarded me with over 16 dollars in clad one afternoon. Hoped that maybe there might be something good besides clad in the area.
I worked about two blocks of beach with the occasional piece of clad and of course the usual assortment of Lincolns/Zinclons. Hate those corroded pieces of zinc.
Hit a small area that kept producing targets. It was at the beach end of a washed out groin and the ocean had removed quite a bit of sand from the dunes in that area. Within the next 50 yards I dug up over ten dollars in clad. My clad total for the day was $13.90. I dug 36 nickels and that kept me anticipating another gold ring that never materialized after finding the teeny little one.
Hit a target that made the Excal Growl at me. I thought that I had heard that sound from the Sovereign Gt one time before. Dug the target and a very small ring emerged in the scoop. Wiped the sand off the ring and I could see a hallmark that appeared to be 10K to my old eyes. Better examination at home with a magnifying glass revealed that the hallmark was actually 14K.
I dont know if it is a youngsters ring or a toe ring but it has been rescued from the ocean and now resided in my "Treasure Chest".
The dime is only to show how small the ring really and truly is. Also on my little finger. I did find a neat pendant that is marked SS. (Stainless Steel) I suspect.
Had a good day. My clad finds were sufficient to finance a return trip to the beach.
