A little catch up silver.:garrett:

We finally got some rain last week and then another nice inch + yesterday so we should be in good digging shape now for a while with more normal like temps. for this time of the year.

Starting on Thanksgiving morning before the turkey feast I hit our old fairgrounds and managed a 1916 Barber dime....and some wheat cents. On Sat. morning I hit the spot again and managed a 1916 Merc. Hit it Sun. afternoon for a bit, but didn't score a silver. Before the more serious rain set in yesterday morning I got almost three hours in on the fairgrounds again and managed to recover a 1943d Merc. Over those hunts I dug several wheat cents and 2 were 1911.

This morning my buddy and I hit the old grounds again and I got over a 1889 Seated dime and a 1919 wheat....besides the cents and clad. As I have mentioned in some past posts, this spot is hard on coins. Lots of decaying iron and broken up asphalt and very few silver coins come out looking good.

Earlier in the week I had hit the demoed housing site two or three times and managed a silver Washington, 2 Rosie silver dimes, a sterling ring with a broken band, a senior pin and a gold plated wedding band. My good ole hard socking A T Pro loves silver. This puts me now at 110 silver coins dug for the year. HH jim tn

You two have done well this month! :clapping: Congrats on the seated!

Our season is drawing to a close quick here - maybe one more hunt before snow hits next week!

You're due for some gold anytime!

Jim that looks sweet right there. More rain tonight and much needed.

Wow, 101 Silvers for the year todate ! The key I see is that you guys go where the going is tough. Not to mention the research.
Proves that there's still Silver out there, but in pockets that have to be sniffed out. Jim, you got any idea how many you've found life time?

Nice silver haul. You have some good spots to hunt. Any other hunters in the demo area? Hope you are well away from all the fires.

Thanks, guys!

jimmyk, to our knowledge we pretty much have had the demo'ed housing site to ourselves save for one fellow club member that has hunted it a few times. Before it was demo'ed the houses were constructed in the mid to late 60's. When my hunting buddy found out about it we decided to give it a shot figuring a few silver coins and wheats may have still been carried and lost. Between us we had recovered 85-90 silvers and the vast majority have been Rosies and a big bunch of those have been 1964's. It was a hunting salvation for us this past summer and fall as it has been so dry here it was one of the few spots we could dig on.

Dancer, I don't really have a clue as to how many silver coins I have recovered since I first started with this neat hobby back in 1972. Those early years with three boys growing up left me with limited hunting time so a good chunk of my silver has come from the 90's on. I do know since I retired in 2006 there has been only two years I haven't hit the 100 silver coin mark for the year. Bear in mind, I hunt almost every day and have a terrific understanding spouse......(most of the time) HH jim tn

Really sweet! I have missed many posts. Seated coins are such a welcome sight!

Jim you have done quite well this year!! Hope you find more bucket finds for 2017. Wonderful woman indeed  We all know that if Momma isn't happy NOBODY is happy
