A Late Night Hunt At Two Local (kids) Baseball Fields

Yesterday evening @ around 8:30pm (pm) I headed out for some "Clad Stabbing" at a couple of ball fields, NO! I don't hunt the field themselves but I do hunt the spectators areas and the concessions area.

I arrived at location one at 8:55pm (pm) and they were still playing ball.

I move to location two, I've hunted this one many times, the area to hunt here is very small but it produces a good bit of coins. I hunted it for a couple of hours and found around 20 coins or so.

Then it was back to location one, this one I have never hunted before and it has much more area to hunt. It started off sort of bad with finding stuff, but like any new area its takes some time to really find the money holes. There is a large state government complex down the same drive, the field is directly across the road from the complex. So, I'm going along and its not to long until I'm finding coins which is good, then comes two security guards over and I thought they would probably ask me to leave but they didn't, they saw what I was doing close up and that I wasn't actually on the field and told me to have a good evening.
The biggest problem I had was those pesty quarters  I could have picked up a lot more coins if I didn't have to spend so much time digging them, I packed it in around 2:30am (am) and got home about 3:00am (am)
It wasn't hot at all!
Nobody bothered me!
My detector light and my headband LED was plenty of light!
A little Deep Woods OFF and I didn't get one bug bit!
I found a total of 88 coins.

21 Quarters,
31 Dimes,
2 Nickels,
34 Pennies

As many coins as I got from these fields I'm pretty certain nobody is hunting them, so, both of these I'm thinking should produce a few pieces of jewelry, but it would take digging a lot of trash!!

Just to note!
I never fell,
I never stumbled,
I never felt unsafe,
I didn't have a gun with me,
I never ran into anything,
I wasn't mugged,
No Friday the 13th Jason's showed up, or Zombies.

I was using my Omega last night.

Nice pile of coins in the cool of the evening. Yeah, I just hate when those quarters get in the way of all those zincers. Good digging! HH jim tn

Good clad count and haul.:clapping:

that is some good huntin'!

Well, I divided up the coins from last night to get a better idea of this years droppings and buried past droppings.
This tells me to some degree if anybody has hunted these places in the past couple of years or so, now the one littler ball field I've hunted it pretty heavy in the past, not much late last year and last night was the first time this year (overall I've gotten a BUNCH of coins out of that tiny space, way to many for anyone to have ever hunted it.)
That explains only finding maybe 20 coins in there.

Now the second place there was to many buried coins to have been hunted in the past few years anyway.

The two pictures shows the amount of fresh drops as compared to the buried ones.
I know there is more coins at the larger field and probably a lot MORE nickels. I'm thinking that with that many coins un-found that nobody has hunted the area, which leaves me to believe that there is a very good chance of some lost jewelry still waiting.

I may get to go back out this evening, but I will most likely go to some different places.

That's what is called a very good hunt ! That tells me your not hunting around my area, NO GUN......YIKS.!!........... NOT MUGGED.!!!..........you must have bodyguards ! .................... NO BUG BITES!!!!.................. HARD TO BELIVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CAN I COME HUNT WITH YOU ???????????????????????????????????????????????

The security guards the didn't flex their
muscles and move you on.... That's something.
You must be a great persuader. I'd like to hear your 1 minute speech some time.

Good work.

I still enjoy a nice clad hunt once in awhile. It reminds me why I got in the hobby in the first place to have fun. To many get hung up on how many silver they can get in a year and lose the fun of it. I use to love to clad hunt with my XL-PRO as it was hot on Quarter's!

Well the security guards were really for the government complex and not the ball field, but they said they try to keep an eye on the field. The reason they came over was they thought I was in the playing field at first and they said that the people had earlier just re-worked the field for more games the next day, but being I wasn't in the field he said I wasn't hurting anything. When he first came over and saw I was in the spectators areas and saw I had a metal detector he just chuckled, he ask me how much a good metal detector cost and I told him that they can get real expensive and a person could put as much money as they wanted too into one, then the second guard came over and really didn't say anything to me. Just before the walked off the one told me to have a good evening, I told him thanks and I was only out at night because its just been to hot to hunt in the daytime. And that was the end of that.

Hmmm, I'm thinking the stars were in your favor.
Government hired hacks that DIDNT try to squeeze you?

That's big.

Nice haul. I'm going to be hitting more ball field edges myself. Right now in my area the spring has the woods so thick with undergrowth. I know of one sports complex that discontinued the use of a baseball field. Its mowed but no longer used. They just built a bigger better field nearby. I think it'll be ok to be in the old field. Going to go back and try it this week sometime. I'll probably use my little 6" DD 3 khz coin killer coil on the 705. I'll just do small areas like 10' x 20' and go slow. Place isn't the greatest. It was built in the 70's and has a high trash density. HH Dog.

Well, they were some bugs out, but the light mounted on the detector doesn't seem to attract them? now the headband LED light does (the single red LED doesn't at all). I did use a little of the Deep Woods OFF but I don't get carried away with it.
To lessen the bug problem I don't hunt with the headband light's white LED's on! I found that the single red LED lets me see the detector face and controls pretty good, so when I go to dig a target I switch the light over to the white LED's and it takes a little bit for the bugs to locate me, retrieve the target and switch back to the red.

Well, if your ever around West Virginia just drop me a PM and maybe we could do a Midnight hunt.
