A head's up for those with Implanted Cardiac Defibrillators (ICD) and Pacemakers.

A recent study shows that the magnets in the headphones used with MP3 players(i.e. I-pods) can interfere with an ICD or Pacemaker if placed within an inch or so. I assume the headphones in question are probably of the light weight on ear types or ear buds. As such the full sized over the ear cans would likely create even more of a problem because of the larger magnets used. It would also probably be a good idea to keep an operating detector coil away from these devices also as it produces a varying magnetic field.

Thanks Bill for the fast response. Thanks goodness that the X-Terra has a built in speaker. I'll talk with Dr. but it looks like I will be able to keep detecting. TomB
