Three hours at the usual beach with my sons. Their school had a holiday today (Monday).
Got there at 7:30am, saw a few girls sleeping on the beach, a few people swimming, but not many people at that time. The beach shops are just about ready, with some open already.
Saw a squashed watermelon....a common summer thing in Japan, someone is blindfolded, given a long stick and they try to split the melon.......the idea being that the melon is then eaten....the smarter people first put the melon on a plastic sheet to keep the sand off!
Sons were hungry so went to a convenience store near the beach and bought some rice balls to eat.
Tried to teach the younger son to keep his Ace 150's coil down low to the sand, he took that literally and ended up flattening the sand with the coil. Soon after he got a 10 yen coin and thought that was great. Ended up with 26 yen (not in the pic).
Elder son - a couple of sinkers and 10 yen (not in the pic).
My results (excluding plenty of sinkers and keys) using a Sea Hunter Mark II are in the pic: 381 yen in modern coins, cross shaped whistle, silver Harley Davidson earring, unkown coin (token?) from a city in Japan. Two junk rings.
Bottom coin with the square hole in the middle - a Japanese coin from the year 1668! The oldest coin I've found so far, I'm HAPPY!
