a guy named "BB"- true story

GRAY GHOST

New member
hello all, in these parts of virginia we have a fellow machine swinger [if ya wanna call him that] who everybody calls "BB." bb is just the nicest guy you could ever have as a hunting partner - until you find something better than he has. ive never had the pleasure of his company on a hunt, maybe cause i know better! but weve all heard stories, right? it seems that "BB" gets jealous whenever his partner for the day [ thats about as long as they last ] finds something a little better than he does. he then reaches into his pocket and starts to throw beebees into his hunting partners sweep path. if youve ever found a piece of leadshot or a beebee, then you know how time consuming they are to recover. so its no wonder that "BB" has made all the good finds of the day while his hunting partner is still vainly recovering junk shot. so be aware of the bb throwers, they are out there,hh,

Hey Gray Ghost, we had a similar incedent on the Victorian goldfields. Someone went to the trouble of making hundreds of metal tags with the word "DickHead" on them. Excuse the language. They put them in the face of underground mines, alluvial areas, etc. They were everywhere. Some people are Morons. I've been out with a bloke who I took to one of my patches, I told him where I was gridding and there was plenty of ground for him to hunt around the perimiter. I was on my return leg as I was chaining, only to find him 50' inside my area which was covered in grid lines, so he could'nt say he did'nt see them:veryangry:. He was digging a target (bullet HA HA) and told me to "F" off softly so I would'nt hear him I did!. :veryangry:Then he had the hide to start throwing dirt out of the hole between his legs directly at me, of course pretending he had'nt seen me behind him. It had taken me 6hrs to clean up the ground to detect, fallen trees, large rocks, etc. I was fuming but held my tongue:veryangry::veryangry:. Previously he had done the same thing with my good mates patch, he did'nt get any gold there either, but we both did (HA HA). He asked me where I'd gotten the bigger nugget, and I sent him to another area miles away and littered with junk:laugh:. No one except my mate knows where I got it and he's fantastic, he just won't go there unless I'm with him, that's a mate!:beers: HH regards Nugget.:detecting:

I think I would have wrapped HIS detector around his neck twice and watched him choke...This is why I am sort of sceptical about inviting others to my sites...I do not have any sites that produce gold, and I do not think I would take even my wife to a site like that...I would like to find a hunting mate, but I am afraid I will end up with a "BB" instead...I have already more or less rejected one guy that wanted to hunt with me...he kept crying about how he was on Welfare, did not have a car, still lived home with Momma, ect...This alone was enough to turn me off to him...The guy just sounded too weird...lol

Gray Ghost, had one of them myself. We had a group of guys who would get together in Nevada and hunt the old gold fields and one guy in particular was so obnoxious no one wanted to go near him. He was an invite of one of the guys in our group. We mostly used VLF detectors but he had a Minelab 3500. He constantly belittled our machines and how much better his was and that we were just wasting our time. His machine was awsome but he did not know how to use it or how to prospect. He would follow right behind one of us and let us know of all the "deep soft signals" we were missing. Since he did not know what he was doing he would never stop to dig himself because he wasn't sure what his machine was telling him. If you did find something he was right there banging the coil against your legs as you were digging. Well, I finally had enough and I gave him a good "deep soft signal" to dig. While he was off annoying some one else, I dug a hole about 20" deep and took a huge dump in it. Before I covered it up I threw a new quarter on top of it. I let me buds in on it and one of the guys familiar with Minelabs tuned the machine up. We guided him over and sure enough his detector had a good solid hit! And it was deep too! We praised his fine detecting ability and marveled at his machine to find a "treasure" that deep. You should have seen the look on his face when he pulled out his "nugget" and a hand full of Sh@#T. Its strange, we never saw him after that trip.

I think I would have skipped the quarter and threw him in on top, then burried it...With a headstone that just says "Deep Soft Signal Below"....lmfao
