hello all. it was a balmy 40+ degrees today, a heatwave compared to what it's been here lately. i went over to the old mansion in the woods and made two remarkable discoveries in the first ten minutes! the first was a rough yankee cuff button with a heavy push to the face, with the correct waterbury backmark and a good stand up shank. 4 feet away, i got another good signal and out popped this u.s. war of 1812 3rd regiment button! wow! the cannon and eagle are a bit hard to make out, but it's the real thing! there is no shank, as is usually the case with these buttons. it's backmarked "armitage, philada." i also went on to find a small brass buckle and an iron buckle, along with a broken tombac button. not bad for an hour and a half hunt. thanks, and hh!
