A good story

I was hunting a site yesterday and was approached by a detectorist with a cheaper detector. He asked me if I was finding anything, I said, " not really". He said that's because nobody ever finds anything at the site. I told him it wasn't I wasn't finding anything, I just wasn't finding anything old. I then showed him the clad in my pouch. I told him I would show him how the V worked. Within 3 feet I got a 91 signal and dug a coin spill with 5 quarters, 2 dimes and a penny.:heh: :heh: He was stunned.

He told me he would like to have a V and was saving his money. I told him I had an extra V I was selling and he took me number. I'm sure I won't hear from him, but I still remember the look on his face, it was my only spill of the day. Rob

Timing and a little luck play well into a good story like that. I similarly was chatting with a newbie to the hobby using another manufacturers machine. The conversation went something like this:

newbie> do you ever find silver here?

me> First time I've been here, thought I'd give this spot a try

newbie> Ok..do you mind if I go over.. there? (pointing)

me> No problem its a park, feel free to go wherever you like, hopefully you'll run across something good.

newbie> Ok

me> step.. swing..step...swing..step..swing..beeep.. dig it. (yippee. 1906 barber at 5 inches) (maintaining control, not to dance to much)

thinking.. hmm should I show the newbie? yeah..why not.

walking to newbie;

newbie> holy .. ______ I never thought there was anything like that here.

me> Me either.. sometimes the blind squirrel just gets lucky. (of course having a V3, and 20+ years of experience does help a little)
