A GOOD INDICATOR FIND" FROM NAIL HILL

as you can see this layer is to deep for the compadre to penetrate, so digging out the dirt and going thru it reveals that coins can be in this layer , found this brass button today , and it started to break up @ the F in foil so i keep the disc on the compadre left of the F in foil , now keep in mind i have gone over this spot with all my detectors and all missed this small button , but it could have been a silver coin , you see the Rock in the sand , this is out of place it was not natural , and I found a skink, no monitarty or historical value on him .

It ain't no telling what you might find at that site. Nice going on the blue tail stink and brass button.

Went back today, for a 2nd round on nail hill , found this glass button and it has a tiny brass shank melted into it , the compadre just barly picks it up , this is a good sign , a coin may come out at any time

I like the way you work the ground thoroughly and stay after it. Good work, it will surely pay off soon!

Those are some pretty old nails as the glass button.
Any idea what kind of dwelling might have been there? Or who owned the property?
Maybe there's a can of coins buried around there. Once you find your first coin you will get a better
idea about dating the place. You might luck into finding a privy loaded with old bottles and other good trash.

Good luck and have fun.

Sven this layer was taken from the second farm house which is 1/4th mile away , they tore it down in 1955and scooped up a lot of the top soil around the house and it was spread out on what i call nail hill .I have found two coins out of this layer , an 1879 seated dime, and a 1862 indian head penny s see pictures below . Nathan Tabor homesteaded it in 1879 but his 1st house is somewhere other than what the one that was torn down in 1955 have not found it yet as it would have been abandoned by 1890 but the funny thing is indian artifacts coming out with tabor artifacts and i am not digging that deep maybe 18" or so the dime was found with a cut nail right next to it and was less than 5" deep thats as it sat i took a picture of it as i actually found it thats what i seen, I had gone over that very spot with all my detectors but the nails are just to much -it took a rain storm to wash it out . the Indain i found about 7 " deep in the layer I am currentlydigging less than 30 ft from where i found the dime and non ferrous keeps coming out with lots of nails I am hoping for another coin .If you look closely just left of the dime and down a bit you can see the cut nail next to the dime

Gunnar,
I love the glass button!
