A good Gold nugget detector ,,?? to buy

div4gold

New member
Hi Forum I have been detecting for 40 years now on land and in the ocean ,,,but now i want to try my hand at gold nuggets I spend my winters here in the Dominican Republic and am finding out about the large areas of gold bearing water ways...
What would be a good machine for nuggets...VLF or PI ,brands...features..ect.
I currently have a Explorer SE and a X-terra 70 i use on land ,,,,I have owned many brands over the years of land units and PI unit for the ocean (Aqua Pulse)
I would prefere a water proof one so it could get wet if i laided it down ...
Any help would be great !!!!
Don.

Best to have help from someone who has experience in the DR as to ground conditions, rules, regs and such also. I don't know of a single soul who has detected the DR hope ya do righteously. There are many good units out for gold as showcased here and Steves' analysis/synopsis will help indeed. With all the horrendous rain in the wet season a water machine(waterproof at least) might be a smart move as both Minelab and Garrett have recently released some very impressive units-John

I second that - given your preferences - Garrett AT Gold. Faster response than Ace series, three tones, waterproof to ten feet, interchangeable coils.

You never mentioned anything about money so if you have some to burn I would go the ATX and AT Gold as a combination of VLF and PI. Covered all bases and both are water proof.
Cheers!
